Yes, you only need to make a backup of your emunand, back up your SD card, create a new emunand on your new SD card and once done, reinject your emunand backup into this brand new emunand and paste back your SD backup in your new SD card too.

oh my thats sounds complicated. back up emunand by just dragging all files to my pc? can i create a emunand without cubic ninja i dont know much of this since i paid someoe $30 with cubic ninja to do it for me ._. sorry for being so dumb

Okay, I cannot figure out how to get homebrew on my O3DSXL on 8.1 without buying a game to bump it up to 9.2 (just want to inject Pokemon into XYORAS). Anyways, I tried doing launch.rxtools.net method, but I'm getting a 403 Forbidden error. I also saw that browserhax/sliderhax works, but I cannot get it at all. I've been at it for a good hour or so and I get an error even while I'm hitting the absolute right-most side of the slider (gone slightly to the left of the end as well, and still no dice). I've deleted cookies, history, and initialized save data and still not getting it.

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated. It's been such a pain to get this working. I do have Smash & OoT, but I'm not entirely sure if I can use those to update to 9.2/get homebrew running on my console.

I'm honestly very lost and don't understand the tutorials on these tools on how to update to 9.2

First, you need to set up the Homebrew Launcher on your 3DS (use the starter pack). Pick one of the ways to do so from here.

After that, you need to grab all of the 9.2.0-20 update files for your region from "some iso site." You'll also need SysUpdater.

Place all of the update cias inside a folder on the root of your SD card named "updates" without the quotes. Place the SysUpdater cia on the root of your SD card as well.

Now, you have a few options for this next step. You'll need Pasta CFW, Mini Pasta, or rxTools (if using rxTools you MUST use Devmode/Pasta Mode to update! Otherwise you'll brick your 3DS!) set up. For simplicity purposes, I'm going to use Mini Pasta in these steps. Create a folder inside the "3ds" folder on your SD card called "MiniPasta" without the quotes. Place the Mini Pasta files inside this folder.

If you're using Mini Pasta, you'll also need FBI. Copy the "3ds" folder from the FBI download to the root of your SD card.

Now you have everything you'll need to update. Boot the 3DS and boot the Homebrew Launcher. Boot into Mini Pasta. From there, boot the Homebrew Launcher again.

This time, select FBI. Use FBI to install the SysUpdate cia to your SD card. After this, reboot your 3DS. Note: if FBI is failing to install the SysUpdater cia, you'll probably need to do this step first:

You will need to go to the "Nintendo 3DS/<id0>/<id1>/dbs/" directory on your SD card and create empty "title.db" and "import.db" files. Then, go to System Settings -> Data Management -> Nintendo 3DS -> Software on your 3DS and let it repair the database files.

Boot back into the Homebrew Launcher and boot Mini Pasta again.

Now, start SysUpdater. Press A and allow it to update. Wait for it to finish.

Once it's finished your 3DS will automatically reboot. Once your 3DS reboots, check the system settings. You should now be on 9.2.0-20!

To make a backup of your emunand, you need both make a copy of your SD card content and use a homebrew app called emunand9

So, my nands are unlinked, and I cold boot into rxTools with themehax. So, here is my question! While on emunand, if I were to change my theme with a non custom one, ya know, with the little wrench and house icon at the top left of the home menu. Would it break themehax and kill my cold boot?

Wow, thanks! Last time I tried it, it broke themehax. I guess my nands were linked, but this time it worked just fine with a different theme. I guess I won't have to arm9hax my niece and nephew's 3DS.

Yep, the issue is that Menuhax is installed on both sysNAND and emuNAND. Fortunately, there's an easy solution.

As soon as you're booting into emuNAND, hold the L button. You should boot into emuNAND. Change your emuNAND's theme. Menuhax should no longer affect emuNAND.

You could install some 10.6 titles (like nver and new friend module, not sure) to bypass the restriction on sysnand. On emunand you can just update to 10.6 (reinand and rxtools support this version at the moment)

When you convert a long song, the quality and bitrate drop so the size doesn't surpass 3.3mb and sometimes this kind of noise gets more notable. This might be one of the reasons

I don't think so.
10.5 and 10.6 are almost the same (except some titles like browser) and both have the same firm.
But if you're not sure enough, you can dump a backup of your emunand with emunand9 and reinject it if you update your emunand and doesn't work properly

Yes, select the track and go to effects -> bass and trebles (or something like that) and change the trebles' value to a negative value

Yes. The N3DS was stuck at 9.5 emuNAND until recently due to additional encryption. The O3DS doesn't have the additional encryption the N3DS does, so it has always been able to go up to the latest emuNAND.

@BobDoleOwndU Wow, amazing instructions. My only problem is the sysUpdater. I go right back to the HBL menu. I haven't ran into any errors so far, but this is confusing me

nvm, lol i kept trying to run it through the homebrew channel instead of the cia file that was installed. didn't think of that for some reason. successfully updated.

Ticket.dbs questions

I heard that if you want to buy an eshop of am cia you already installed, if you just go to eshop, it will causes problems due to the fake ticket existing in ticket.dbs alread.

And that the solution to that is to remove ticket.dbs, go to eshop and install, then put ticket.dbs back in
