You'll need to set up emuNAND as well, otherwise you won't be able to update without actually udpating the system. EmuNAND9 can set up emuNAND. Before setting up emuNAND make a backup of all of the files on your SD card. EmuNAND9 will wipe your SD card when setting up emuNAND. After it's finished setting up emuNAND you can copy the files back to your SD card.
I formated my sd to set up the emuNAND and now it is stuck at 2gbs instead of it's default anyway to fix it?

N3DS clock rate question.
I'm using NTR clock plug in, and i understand higher hz makes smoother game play.

But what L2 stuff?

Hi guys, it's me again. I'm now running 10.3 emunand, and was about to play mh4u. However, it prompts me to update, but isn't my firmware supposed to be greenlit already? Or do i just accept it?

edit: Derp alert! Nevermind. It seems like the bug where going to system settings and back that resets the firmware to sysNand's is still there. Carry on, people.

Is there a way to make 03ds region free? So to install any region signed CIAs and make them work, not hang on Nintendo 3ds logo. I don't have any games, so browserhax way would be preferred :)

Hello.
I have a N3DS fully hacked with rxTools, emuNAND, working CIA installation and all stuff.
My question is: Is there any way to access eShop to download game updates on 9.2 ?

I searched for a tutorial but couldn't find any.

I'll be getting a new larger micro SD card on thursday, I currently have emunand and everything installed on my current sd card. Is there a way I can transfer everything from one sd to the other without having to reinstall emunand?

Got 10.3 emunand, is there anyway to make it auto boot into emunand ?

Ps, also holding L when booting does nothing, installed menuhax but nothing(Got rxtools 3.0 installed), which means I have to go via web browser to get too emunand.

it doesnt reset the firmware, it literally boots you back into sysnand when you leave. since both nands seem to share system settings even when unlinked, there's nothing to be done about it, other than being aware of it

you do have to install menuhax in sysnand from hbl.
so you have to exchange the boot files on your sd (ou're probably having bootmanagers boot.3dsx file right now, yes?) back it up and put in the starterkits boot file.
then use menuhaxmanager v2.1 i think and install menuhax (dont change themes in sysnand afterwards)

switch the bootfies back and now, when holding L on startup, it hould bring you right to bootmanager.

there's no way around installing an emunand partition on the new sd card first. else, it cant use... well emunand.

you'll need the emuandtool or emunand9 homebrew to make a backup of your current emunand, create an emunand partition on the new sd card, inject oyur emunand backup into that new emunand and finallytransfer all your old sd's files to the new one.

i think you can spoof the shop on 9.5 emunand (but its complicated to get there on n3ds tbh)
however, most games that really need it have cia files for gameupdates floating around on certain websites

no, but almost all games that dont have a certain region release have a region free patched version floating around somewhere. (usually marked RF for region free)

alternatively, you should be able to boot them with HANS

This came to play, because I tried castlevania Lords of shadow USA Region free).cia file. installed via FBI. unwrapped gift and started it. it hangs on Nintendo 3ds splash screen. But other games work and works after reset reboot, but started castlevania again->same result. So I thought it is a region issue?

if it says region free, it should be. might've been a bad download or actually notregion freed?
delete it through system settings and try again from a different source. look for the actual eur version if its available.

I dunno if I should make a separate thread for this, but basically, I'm a noob with this. I've got a 10.3 N3DS US, just about ready to downgrade. I have a few questions though.

1. Assuming this pushes through successfully, what happens to my current themes? Games? Wouldn't wanna lose all my ambassador games. Their saves?
2. Miiverse and eShop access?
3. Streetpass Plaza progress?
4. What's next for me, assuming I went ahead and successfully downgraded? Custom Firmware for pirated games? (I know I really want me some of those JP exclusives)

To whoever answers sensibly, thank you very much.

Did you format Emunand?

What happens if I start a game on my unlinked Emu NAND 7.2 that requires a higher firmware like Zelda MM?

You can probably play like normal.

1. If you do things right, nothing will happen to them.
2. I don't know for Miiverse, but for eShop you would lose access to it until you firmware spoof your N3DS.
3. Same answer as 1.
4. Yes.

Has HomeMenuHax become more stable lately? I haven't updated since the first few releases and it fails quite often.

Yup. It's stable enough to be recommended to everybody, so you should update now.

You should verify what you're booting into after launching rxTools.

yall im torn... ive been hacking away at tales of phantasia GBA (the USA version) and have so many documents of reverse engineering i've done
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I just found out that the EU version is better in literally every way, better sound quality, better lighting, and there's even a patch someone made to make the text look nicer
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
Do I restart now using what i've learned on the EU version since it's a better overall experience? or do I continue with the US version since that is what ive been using, and if someone decides to play my hack, it would most likely be that version?
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
@TwoSpikedHands, I'll preface this with the fact that I know nothing about the game, but, I think it depends on what your goals are. Are you trying to make a definitive version of the game? You may want to refocus your efforts on the EU version then. Or, are you trying to make a better US version? In which case, the only way to make a better US version is to keep on plugging away at that one ;)
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
I'm not familiar with the technicalities of the differences between the two versions, but I'm wondering if at least some of those differences are things that you could port over to the US version in your patch without having to include copyrighted assets from the EU version
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
@Sicklyboy I am wanting to fully change the game and bend it to my will lol. I would like to eventually have the ability to add more characters, enemies, even have a completely different story if i wanted. I already have the ability to change the tilemaps in the US version, so I can basically make my own map and warp to it in game - so I'm pretty far into it!
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I really would like to make a hack that I would enjoy playing, and maybe other people would too. swapping to the EU version would also mean my US friends could not legally play it
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I am definitely considering porting over some of the EU features without using the actual ROM itself, tbh that would probably be the best way to go about it... but i'm sad that the voice acting is so.... not good on the US version. May not be a way around that though
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
    I appreciate the insight!
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
@TwoSpikedHands just switch, all the knowledge you learned still applies and most of the code and assets should be the same anyway
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
    and realistically they wouldn't

be able to play it legally anyway since they need a ROM and they probably don't have the means to dump it themselves

  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
@Karma177 that sd card is 100% faulty so yes, its a bad idea
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:

  • Karma177 @ Karma177:
@The Real Jdbye it hasn't given me any error trying to write things on it so I don't really think it's faulty (pasted 40/50gb+ folders and no write errors)
