oops I misread, I have never heard about or seen a tutorial about converting from cia to 3ds but ill continue checking for you
whats the name of the site? I would really like to look into it?Domino101, I believe I found a tool that does the trick. However, where I found it is on a different website that supports its own forums. I don't know the rules quite well and don't know if if I can link to an external forums.
Can I play DLC using the Gateway? How would that work?
oh yes< you will need to be on cfw 4.x.x, I used that yesterday to install pokemon x on my o3ds I would recommend it itIt's maxconsole, and the tool itself is just called 3ds to cia converter. It runs through a .bat and gives you the options to convert either way. I don't know how legit it actually is though
*EDIT*
seems it also requires Python 2.7 to be installed. or recommends it anyways.

I am sure it is due to the language barrier but I don't understand your comment.
Unfortunately not. I saw something a mont or so ago that covered a lot of the basics but I don't think it got stickied.
If you are on a n3ds and unfamiliar with the current goings on I suggest holding off on 3.2 for a few days and and see where the dust settles. It would appear at least one issue is a rather poor guide provided by gateway.
What areas are you interested in exploring?
From start to finish i guess. Damn. someone needs to get on it quick.
http://3ds.essh.co/ has a list of games along with their firmware versions. When you update from a card, it won't be contacting Nintendo's servers. If you update through the update nag, eShop prompt, or System > Update System menu option, it will be trying to go online to get the latest update. How would I go about updating a 3ds that's on a firmware lower than 4.2. so I can use Ninjhax? I know you can use certain carts to update the firmware, but I'm not sure which firmware would be best. I know smash bros. can update you to ~8.1, but is that preferable to using animal crossing for 4.5?
Also how can I make sure when I update the system, it's not updating from nintendo's servers?
I should also mention that I used openDNS to block all the nintendo servers, so when I set the system up I can enter those DNS settings.
Thanks for the help in advance.
https://gbatemp.net/threads/n3ds-xl-firmware-by-version-number.381479/ is a thread dedicated to trying to see which serial numbers come with which System Version installed. You can try buying a used system, since you can return it within 7 days for a refund for any reason (unless they changed their policy since I worked there), but there's no telling what it'll be on. You could also try to buy online from an individual seller, contacting them first to find out what version it's on.If I were to buy a "New 3DS XL" from gamestop, new condition, what are the odds it will be on 9.2 or older? I currently have a 3DS, but it is on 9.4, and I was looking to upgrade for Monster Hunter anyways. If the odds are low, where can I buy a "New 3DS" that is under 9.2, almost guaranteed? (e.g. used, or refurbished, or new if possible)
