What's wrong with getting a black new 3ds xl USA model?

Have you the new faceplates?

55 doesn't look too bad on the white console, so I ended up getting that.

If this all works well, I'll probably end up getting a Japanese Black model and get the MM faceplate. Gateway is like a dream come true for me Ordered 3 to show my support, will likely give them out later.

I'm thinking about importing a new 3DS from either Japan or Australia.
If I were to use the gateway (with US roms) with the Japanese console, would the game appear in English?

Because I really want a Black new 3DS but the Australian black model is ALOT more money than the white.

yes, they will play in English , but the menu will forever be in Japanese.

To be the on the safe side (to prevent any multi-language games from defaulting to Japanese), I went ahead and ordered a European 3DS anyways.

So correct me if I'm wrong, but most 'new' new 3DS consoles from Europe and Japan aren't above 9.3. However I'll need a European/Japanese version of Ocarina of Time or Cubic Ninja ? (I only have the NTSCU copy )

However a Sky3DS doesn't require those games, so I can first get a Sky3DS to emulate Ocarina/Cubic Ninja, and THEN I can use my Gateway.

Also these .CIA files, it is like installing games on the 3DS console and save them to the SD card? (should I start looking for a deal on a 128GB SDCard now?)

So yesterday i was fucking around with my o3dsxl, managed to get a sysnand dump at 9.2, made an emunand and booted it through rxtools

Now, retardly, i updated through the eshop, not knowing that updates your sysnand even if youre booted into emunand.

Basically, what are my options, i know about the hard mod, seems difficult and I dont want to fuck up my 3ds, is there any word on possible homebrew compatibility with 9.6? Hows gateway going with 9.6?

Can I simply make a backup of the SD card(game/savedata) via drag n' drop windows prior to formatting the emunand on that sd card and then drag that content back onto the remaining SD card storage afterwards?

Yes, dragging and dropping will work if you do the format emunand option in the gateway menu.

Your options are limited. The problem with 9.6 is new encryption so it could be awhile if ever, no one knows. Your best bet is the hardware mod. With shipping Avalynn can get it done for about $25. Hundshammer does it as well.

I have an old 3ds and 3 n3ds and I plan on sending them in one by one and getting it done. I have an iron but don't trust myself with it.

You can sell it and buy another one. If you are handy and want to join the Dark Side you can buy one at Wally World, switch the motherboards and then return it. Buy a sky. Or just pray.

From what I understand most but not all so be careful.

Regarding an mSD card. Nintendo does not support sdxc cards so some have issues and the few rom whores who have posted here that have one seem to have had problems with 128GB. the cost per GB is high as well. I use two 64gb in my systems and put all online games as cia and offline as .3ds. Sandisk ultra and Samsung evo work for me.

Would it be possible for me to downgrade my 9.2 console to 4.5, install a cia of my Cubic Ninja cartridge, then revert back to 9.2 and still use cubic ninja? I want be able to use ninjhax, and rxTools when it updates for ninjhax, withohttp://ut having to spawn the cartridge from cubic ninja to super smash each time.

Also, if I downgrade to 4.5 and don't even run super smash via cartridge and do as I said and then update to 9.2, will my cartridge save still be in tact and not currpted, along with my other cartridge saves? (Animal Crossing, Mario Kart ect.)

Not trying to be a dick but that made no sense to me. What does smash have to do with it? This isn't a Wii.

If you are trying to install cn as a cia so you can use your cart for a different exploit that won't work. You are not the first with that idea and will not be the last. There was not a us or eu preinstalled copy of CN so without first running the exploit you cannot run unsigned code. You can install it you just can't run it.

I'm a dev, so I know about programming, buffor overflow, read/write memory etc.
For the 3ds, I assume, for the browser exploit, if it's webkit, perhaps a know webkit exploit is used.

My question is about finding exploit, if the code is known, I can imagine how people can find vulnerable code, but if the code is not known, like the Zelda OoT exploit, how can they find vunerability ?
Old way is to dump code, and with an hexa editor search for some occurence.
But in the Zelda OoT example, do you know how the guy discover the exploit ?
(something like, dump the save, and try to alter string, or value with an hexEditor, until the game crash ?)
And more general question, how can become a vulnerability resercher ?
(I read some tuto and wiki linked in the fisrt page, but find nothing related)

- Was it always like that? Or is this a 9.5 problem and e.g. 9.2 users can still use the Nintendo Zone?
- Is there any workaround to still connect without updating your firmware? (firmware spoofing or something)

Well, I own a Gateway 3DS and I'm having a serious problem. I downgraded from 7.1.0 to 4.2.0 to play DS Flashcards and use the DS Profile exploit. Formatted emuNAND, yadda yadda. 9.6.0 isn't supported, so I reformatted and used Codename: STEAM to update to 9.4.0. This morning, I found out I could update my emuNAND by using cias, so I installed the 9.5.0 cia and rebooted the system. Now, emuNAND worked the first three or so times I booted into it through the DS Profile, but the next time I got "An error has occurred. Hold down the POWER Button to turn off the power, then turn it on and try again. For help, visit support.nintendo.com." At first, I only got this message when I tried StreetPass Mii Plaza and System Settings for too long. Now if I just leave my 3DS idle for a couple seconds, I get that message. I removed the Gateway card AND the SD from the console, and I still get this message. Can someone please help me?

My 3DS can't possibly go on that long without giving me an error message. I'm really stuck right now. I can't even call Nintendo or renew my warranty because
1. I'm using illegal material
2. I've had this 3ds for years and it wasn't even mine from the beginning.

I see, that sucks... The only solution I see now is a hardmod (if you still have your SysNAND backup).

Can your 3DS stay on long enough for a SysNAND format? It's worth a try.

So i've updated my sd card multiple times in the past and today i bought another 32 micro sd card. Formatted it with gateway launcher and tried to extract the old emunand from my other card but whatever i tried it gave me the error unknown nand size. So after a lot of tries and no solution i tried to do the whole process all over again with installing cfw but now i can't seem to inject my rednand since it gives me the same error wich is ''unknown nand size'' Just wanted to upgrade my card and used 1.01 and 1.03emunand tool and tried reformatting multiple times but doesn't seem to work.

Always like that. Stay away from Ninteno Zones, if you leave wifi enabled and put in it sleep mode they will download the update automatically. I mean disable it from the hardware switch for o3ds or the home menu for n3ds. Here in the states even AT&T hotspot will download the update on you. It happened to me in a hotel a few weeks ago. Just to clarify, it doesn't matter if your three internet connections are blank or filled with dummy data, the 3ds bypasses that and will still connect. At least in the U.S.

I have receive that error on occasion but I am on 9.2 sysnand and don't have experience on 4.x. I believe it to be a contact issue most of the time so try reseating the cards. It could also be a fragmentation issue on the cards. Back them up and then copy everything over in one action. If that doesn't fix the issue try a post in the main thread. Good luck.

Gateway has a guide on their downloads page, there is one here in the tutorials sections and another one over on maxconsole.com. Any of them will do the job.

When and if 9.6 support comes you will be able to update emunand. You can get to 9.4 easily now with a rom like code name steam or xenoblade and even 9.6 using 3dnus but I hear it is having a few issues at the moment. Not that it matters a whole lot right now because gw has firmware spoofing so even a 9.0 emunand will work just fine except for shop access.

I don't do Palantine so I can't help you with that. Can you get I have not had a problem with the 1.03 build of emunand tool but had that issue with the beta n1ghty released and I don't know if it has been resolved. Make sure you are not using the beta version.

You could make a post over in the emunand release and support thread and see what turns up there.

Also try creating just a straight emunand without cfw and see what happens. Do you have a gw card?

Can I copy save game files from my old 3ds's SD card, and dump them on a N3ds's internal memory card and i'm good to go? Or it doesn't work like that, and i'd have to use the Gateway's save injector or some other tool?

If you mean one you've purchased:

Update the N3DS to 9.6 and do a system transfer to it.

If you mean one you've pirated that is signed:

Install it with ninjhax/FBI.
