Thank you so very much Uumas! I'm restoring my flashcard atm, everything is going smoothly thus far. :) They REALLY NEED to specify on 3ds guide the difference between the system SD and the flashcard SD... That would have saved me so much time and trouble, lol.
It does say flashcart's sd and device's sd, but it really could be stated more clearly

It should be pretty clear:
Instructions
Section I - Prep Work
  1. Power off your device
  2. Insert your device’s SD card into your computer
  3. Copy SafeB9SInstaller.firm to the root of your SD card and rename it to boot.firm
  4. Copy the contents of starter.zip to the root of your SD card
  5. Create a folder named boot9strap on the root of your SD card

  6. Copy boot9strap.firm and boot9strap.firm.sha from the boot9strap .zip to the /boot9strap/ folder on your SD card

  7. Reinsert your SD card into your device
  8. Power on your device

Hi,

I've successfully followed the guide on installing homebrew. I completed it and installed Luma, along with everything else.
I tried to use the QR code for the free shop but I got an error for the camera. So I installed the freeshop fork manually and now I need to update my firmware.
Currently I am at 9.0- is there ANYTHING I need to do before installing the new firmware (11.6) from system update (settings) onto Sysnand?
I read that I may need to unlink sysnand and emunand but I don't know if thats still accurate.
I backed up sysnand and have it on the computer in case something goes wrong.
Thank you for the help. I've been looking up information for hours and I just decided to go ahead and ask.

Emunand is no longer needed at all. Just update normally. No extra steps required.

Need advice on selling unwanted 2DS:

I bought a 2DS last year and did that whole downgrading to 9.2 thing and then emuNAND(forgive me if it doesn’t make sense). I had some games on there. It’s been well over 6 months, I haven’t played any games online in fear of getting banned. Also I live in Asia now and don’t have time to play it so I want to sell it.

Question: What’s the best way to go about selling it, and how much would you value it at? It’s in excellent condition and has games. Would you delete all the games and just sell it as regular 2DS or advertise it as emuNAND 9.2? Worried that the next person would try to update it and it won’t work or something... btw I don’t have the original firmware file as I accidentally deleted it ages ago.

Just trying to sell it the easiest way possible without the buyer having any issues down the road. Alternatively are there any safer methods than emuNANd these days?

Update it to B9S and sell it as hacked. You'll get more for it. You may have to use "code language" (eg 2DS with lots of games on the title, more explicit in description) depending on whether your local classifieds tend to delete ads about hacked stuff. If you're upfront with what's on the console the buyer can't get upset because update 12.0 killed Luma (whereas if you leave it hacked and don't say so then they have a right to be annoyed if it stops working later).

Thanks. It’s been a while since I’ve been on this site. Used to be in the loop. Going to look into B9S as I’m unaware of it haha. Would you mind telling me how time consuming the update will be? Thanks again

You're using a Mac right? Macs add those files with dots at the beginning. Not sure what they're for but they aren't the real files. Check the download again, and if you can, plug the SD card into a windows computer so you can delete them and they won't confuse you.

Yep that's the one. The last couple of updates have been fine with older versions of Luma (the newer ones just added more features) so it is unlikely they will even have to update Luma next time there's a firmware update but you never know. Better to inform them.

See if you can open the gm9 files just in the browser (when I try to open it in mobile it opens in the browser and shows the text). Then you could create a new text file and paste the contents in, and rename it correctly.
