It tried and the blue light turns of right away instead of being on for a few seconds like when I have the 7.1 boot.frim in there. Should I just redo the installation? is that possible?

Do you even have B9S then? 7.1 will work on B9S v1.0 which you definitely don't have if you followed the guide after June 4th. 8.1.1 is for B9S v 1.2 which you would have if everything worked properly.

Are you 100% sure you installed B9S and you're not still on A9LH?

Pretty sure as I did have it working and messed up once by using the luma updater and had to restore to 7.1

Can I just follow the guide to 8.1.1 and upgrade it?

I was asking because there are only 4 versions of Luma that support B9S (7.1, 8.0, 8.1 and 8.1.1) If NONE of those work by just putting the boot.firm on the root of your SD card, then you either don't have B9S or your SD card is dead.

Try copying Luma 7.0.5 arm9loaderhax.bin to the sd root

I mean my SD card is being read by my PC so it is probably not dead. On only tried 8.1.1 and 7.1 though so I am gonna try the others

If those two don't work the ones in between will not either. Try 7.0.5 arm9loaderhax.bin

If those two don't work, the others most likely won't either. Also, just because the PC reads it doesn't mean the 3DS can; it could still be dying or have corrupted sectors.

If not, try what @Uumas suggested because you might still have A9LH.

JKSV is the easiest to use, and can dump ALL your saves at one time in separate folders. Otherwise SVDF is the second best in terms that it is the official SDK app for save file management from Nintendo itself.

Already had arm9loaderhax.bin in root apprently. Replaced it with the one from 7.0.5 and it still didn't boot, deleted it and it didn't work either. Is there a way to just redo this.

If the arm9loaderhax.bin didn't work, and none of the boot.firms work, download godmode9 the .firm version and rename it to "boot.firm" put that on the root of your SD card and see if it boots.

You can't really "start over" if you can't boot into your homemenu......

Then apparently your 3DS isn't reading your SD card. Try another one or use https://3ds.guide/h2testw-(windows) to test your current one to see if it's good.

Yeah format it and make sure it's blank. Make a backup of the contents somewhere on your desktop.
