Nothing you do can break the system once A9LH is installed so stop being such a worrywart. In the ctrtransfer you do a backup of 2.1 but if you want to attempt updating thru system settings and are afraid that something goes wrong, you can yes, create a backup.
If you followed the guide and have start_Hourglass9.bin in luma/payloads you can then get into Hourglass by holding Start and powering on the console. Do this, and go to SysNAND Options and back up your current NAND into NANDmin.bin file. If you end up doing ctrtransfer later just skip the backup step as you already have it.

Exfat and ntfs are the only options listed from windows format tool.

Pardon for the questions. Wanted to look at upgrading my 32gb sd card and wanted to go up to a 128 gb sd card im looking at these two. Thoughts? or is that amount too large for a 3ds? is 64 enough?? any recommendations? and while im here i've heard once I update to 11.3 on luma i will no longer be able to install legit cias is this true? Thank you in advance.

128GB works, just format it to Fat32. Is it too large? IDK. Are you going to install that many games? I know a couple of my friends have 64GB mSD cards, and they're happy, but that's them. Some people on here use 128GB. There probably is that one person who's rocking a 256GB Micro SD.
If you have A9LH+Luma3DS, you can install any CIAs, or just get freeShop.
Well more or less need more space since i'm starting to run low on it not by a lot but somewhat. any specific brands i should look into to avoid compatibility issues? I think ill go with a 64 gb card for now.
I use a Samsung EVO Plus 64GB one on my N3DS. SanDisk Ultra on my old3DS.
So I'd go for either of those brands.
All my friends went with Samsung EVO mSD cards, since that's what our local Micro Center had at the time.
Only thing I'd be weary off is buying from places like eBay. I got all my mSD cards from Amazon.com, and I made sure it was Amazon, and not a third-party seller on Amazon. Even with that though, I still ran all of my mSD cards through h2testw - 3ds.guide even has a section for it.
I just updated my 2DS with rxtool and menuhacks with the settings menu. Now it won't boot into emunand it just flashes up to the rxtools logo and then stays black. If I hold R to boot into sysnand and check the settings it is still on 9.2. Anyone got an idea?
RxTools does not work with 11.3 anymore.
luma3ds is the current stable working in that version.
Just set it up and you'll be able to boot your emunand again

I tried installing Luma in the past and just now again following this guide and it does not work. I just get the same black screen and nothing happens and even the rxtools logo still flashes up
Hi guys, I am an owner of old 3ds with gateway cart.... recently I am helping my friend who own a new 3ds with ver 11.2 to hack his 3ds.
After following the steps from "3ds.guide" , I managed to downgrade his ver to 9.20 (well it shows Sys 9.2.0-20 U, somehow I don't know what is the difference between Sys and Ver)....
Until here everything seems smooth, but when I try to install the gateway cart, it seems like cannot work like how it suppose to work on my old 3ds.... (install with gateway blue cart>>launcher.dat in sd card>>slot in gateway red cart>>go system setting>>other setting>>Profile>>NDS profile).....
lets say if I want to install arm9loaderhax in my old 3ds also.... how should I do to keep my gateway cart working as usual after the modification?

So, I lost my Hyrule Warriors Legends cart a few weeks ago. Now I donloaded a EUR CIA (As my system is european) of the game and I really do not want to do all that grinding all over again. Nor the overly long missions. So I downloaded a save of the game. But I've got 2 issues with this:
-I do not know from what region is. I did ask, no reply.
-I do not know where or how to install downloaded save files.
Can you help?
EDIT 1: I found a program called JK Save Manager. Gonna try that, If it doesn't work, I'll do another Edit.

You just need to download the latest version of Luma (6.6) and put the arm9loaderhax.bin on the root of you SD card.
Then, paste the "3ds" folder that's inside the "hax" folder and merge, if you already have a "3ds" folder in your 3ds.
At that point, you can try running the homebrew launcher and run luma from there.
You can configure a coldboot after that if you want.
Or even better, you can follow the http://3ds.guide and restore your emunand into your sysnand (this step is almost at the end of the guide)
