Alright, I've asked multiple times on /vg/ and reddit, no dice. Hopefully you guys can help me, I'd REALLY appreciate it.

Basically a few months ago I somehow managed to get cfw and everything up and running on my o3DS. Fast forward a few months with Pokemon Sun and Moon coming out, and I bought a New 3DS, version 11.1.0-34E. I was told to follow this guide (https://plailect.github.io/Guide/dsiware-downgrade) religiously, and rightfully so, as I really don't know what I'm doing.

Everything was going fine, but I'm stuck on Section 4, where I'm required to use Homebrew on my Non-cfw 3DS. I have OoT3D and Paper Mario, so I tried doing it with OOT3DS first. I used the app, I chose the version of my 3DS, the payloaad worked fine. However, when I tried to use it on my new 3DS it kicked me to the home menu.

Did I do something wrong, is this a common issue? I'm not sure if I'm supposed to update my o3DS's apps or something, I haven't used it in a month or two.

Are you selecting the fw version of your o3ds or your n3ds when installing oothax?
When you use, for example, the oothax's installer, you need to select the model/FW version of the 3ds where the exploit will be used (in you case, your n3ds)

I am, yes. It kicks me to the home menu regardless. I select NEW 11.1.0-34EUR, so I'm not getting that wrong.

I actually tried doing it with my o3DS by selecting that version and trying it out on that. It worked. But whenever I do it with the new 3ds (after downloading the payload of course) it doesn't work.

I think I'm doing something wrong here, but I don't know what it is. I put the starter kit on the root of my sd card, it has the boot file and everything.

I finally decided to jump into the scene for 3DS and have a quick question. I have my N3DS (11.2) with all my games etc on there. My friend lent me his a9lh N3DSXL to do the dsiware downgrade.

Is it possible to do the following:

1- transfer my nnid to the a9lh 3DS and keep a9lh on the XL (he has a nand backup so can delete his profile)
2- in a weeks time, transfer back to the 11.2 N3DS and do the dsiware downgrade

You need to do the DSiWare downgrade before transferring back and install arm9loaderhax, but yeah.

So to make sure I understand, I can transfer my stock profile to the a9lh N3DSXL and keep the hack (I'm doing this so I keep my nnid - I also have one of the games used for the downgrade purchased already) then after a week can transfer the hacked save back to the N3DS and continue right?

Just want to make sure I don't mess up my friend's N3DSXL

Hey hey, it's my first try here and Idon't even know if it is the right section but I do have a problem, my R4 3DS SDHC (dual-core, 2014) just stopped working on my 3DS (o3DS, A9LHV3, 11.0) but worked yesterday, I haven't changed anything in the SD card, can anybody help me? I can't get FBI to install on my Old 3DS custom firmware Sys 11.2.0-35U lumas installed and everything. Every time I try to inject FBI into the health and safety app it says successful but when it reboots it is still the regular health and safety app.

I think the exploit is very unstable due to PASLR security added on 11.0+.

So I'm not the only one with this issue, then. Should I just keep trying until I get it to work if that's the case?

So I've gotten 2 different answers on this. Im on vanilla 11.0 O3DS. I'm wondering if doing a system format, then blocking Nintendos servers will get rid up the browser update nag. Several people have told me each way

Seems like it could work, but then on the other hand, it could turn out the other way. The only way to know is to try it for yourself really.

Be sure that you're injecting it into sysNAND and not emuNAND (if you have one)
Also, sometimes the banner doesn't change to FBI and shows H&S (never happened to me before tho) but it should still load FBI.

If you're on OFW using Oot3dhax as an exploit, it will not work on 11.0 using the installer due to PASLR. Unless you have CFW (which there would be no need for Oot3dhax) or Powersaves, you're not gonna be able to use Oot3dhax with the installer on 11.0+

Will doing a system format force me to update to the latest firmware? ( I went to do it and noticed it required internet connection so that made me a bit nervous. I do NOT want to loose my 11.0 FW)

Ok to start off here I'm not new to 3ds hacking. I've got several systems with a9lh. My current problem is with my neighbors system. It came with 11.0u. I know the process of getting a9lh on there. But he doesn't trust me with it for the installation process of a9lh. But I do have nijahax and menuhax loading hbl. He's interested in cfw and emunand. Is there an option? Or is it a waste of my time?

If you're on OFW using Oot3dhax as an exploit, it will not work on 11.0 using the installer due to PASLR. Unless you have CFW (which there would be no need for Oot3dhax) or Powersaves, you're not gonna be able to use Oot3dhax with the installer on 11.0+

I have cfw installed on my 3ds and downloaded the payload or whatever and set my version to the target 3ds without cfw. The guide I'm using (Which everyone seems to use) said this was required.

Update Luma first (using Luma Updater or by replacing arm9loaderhax.bin yourself) then do the update through System Settings.

No - it requires the internet connection to be able to tell the Nintendo servers that your NNID is no longer the active NNID on your device.

Is just for setting up a emunand? Luke I said he will not let me do any downgrades for a9lh. And yes I've told and showed him how great it is.

Well he can't do anything without a downgrade (except if he gets a copy of Cubic Ninja or Freakyforms, he can use userland homebrew, or if he gets a secondary hax cart like OoT you can set it up for him).
