Really, Nintendo was prepping for 3DS mode security. At this point, I don't think they really care about DS mode.

I doubt mandatory. Plus dsi carts are still updatable.

Costello said earlier that the AK team had told him they had the AK2i working on the 3DS, it just needed furthur testing prior to release.

Or if you meant firmware updates, you've obviously never heard of AKAIO then.

Wait a minute... R4i works on a device that includes 3DS-Mode, DSi-Mode and DS-Mode by a simple firmware update and normal DS flashcarts like the CycloDS (without "i") cannot even work on a DSi, that includes DSi-Mode and DS-Mode?

Dsi reflashable (acekard2i,dstwo,r4icarts) all work on the dsi and ds.
And all (possible/in theory) will work on 3DS because it basely the same security in ds mode.

While ds carts still can not work.

No, you simply dont understand how DSi carts work. DSi features a new "security" for booting in DS mode that was bypassed via new flash kits and stolen Nintendo code. Why cant be this stolen code be flashed via a simple firmware update on DS carts?

3DS featrues again a new "security" that prevented all flash kits from being booted. And all what did take to bypass that security is not a new cart, but a freakin firmware update. So tell me why that is not possible with DS only carts? I dare you.

You're wrong, it's not a firmware update, it's a bootstrap update, an update to the card itself. DS only carts do not have updateable bootstraps. DSi carts do. Mystery solved.

Second, there is a big hole in your argument. Just take a look at this video:



Any idea what this it? It's a CycloDS cart that have been succesfully booted on a DSi, without an update of the bootstrap. If your argument would be correct, the CycloDS cart should not be booted at all, but the cart have not only been booted, even games have been launched. The only thing is, that the games crashed after some time of playing, but this could simply be handled like a normal AP on a ROM. Tell me, why is apparently a new bootstrap neccessary for keeping an already in DS-Mode launched game from crashing? What has a bootstrap anything to do with an already running game?

WiiBricker, Team Cyclos never showed what they're using to boot their firmware on DSi.

That video was fake for sure. Maybe they just hacked an Acekard to boot their firmware.

Well, Acekard was the first card to work on a DSi. Cyclops the last.

both you and wiibricker are wrong

acekard and cyclops both got working ds-mode dsi cards at almost the exact same time (around a day after yasu posted that video of ds-mode homebrew on his dsi iirc)
cyclops never released a ds-mode card for dsi (until the ievo ofc) because they were waiting for some dsi-mode haxx to come along (my healthy cooking coach or whatever that game's called)
acekard, however did release their upgraded card (ak2i)

both the ak2i and the cyclo used in this video boot differently to how ds lite cards did at the time

and @wiibricker saying this didn't have an updated bootstrap: it did, it's just that as has been said in this thread several times before, the cards that existed at the time could not update their bootstraps easily - ie, you'd have to actually solder the ic on the flashcart to a serial port or similar in order tyo re-flash the card and even then you would need to have in-depth knowledge of the card (which cyclo obviously had, being the makers of it)

Wait, I realised something, I remember a video of the cool features the 3DS will have.

One of them was if a 3DS came in contact with another 3DS, both 3DS' will share their info.

Another is like the one above, BUT!

If they both have the same game attached, something happends to BOTH of their games, like a battle with street fighter.

If someone has a 3DS flashcard (whenever there is), and the 3DS comes in contact with a 3DS who belongs to a non-hacker, it will share all information... right?

idk, it's just me thinking...

When/If a 3DS cart come out, it would only share info dealing with games not personal or other info.

Better buy the real thing.

You lost me. I thought the R4iGold that got the akaio 1.8.1 (which was/is the Acekard/R4Ultra clone) port was R4iGold.COM card not .CN or DSN since they have the real woodR4 Support.

If the AceKards could be found here in my country then Yes I Would buy one without a second thought. but I could barely find a 1:1 R4 original clone >>
And until I'm 18 no ordering online for me..

Hopefully the AceKard team (or Normmatt/Smiths for that matter) can circumvent this without major problems.. (Y) ^^

mercluke, I'd like to believe you. But there is no Evo in this video. You can't even see the DSi menu. It's already booted. That's why I speculated.

I know what Team Cyclops claimed or claims. But I'm not really sure if they are allways telling the truth...
