Still, the AP reports that Iwata was upbeat about the 3DS.

Since the portable is a 3D gaming device, Nintendo has a difficult time promoting the handheld's main feature (glasses-free 3D) through traditional mediums like regular TV or print ads. To counter that, Nintendo is planning a series of 3DS events for people to get hands on with the portable.

Because the only way to have enough to go around in time would be to skimp on production quality, like MS did with the early 360s. That's the biggest reason why the 360 was out a full year before everything else. If Ninty did that as well, there would be returns galore, and people's faith in Nintendo hardware quality would be shaken. Also, this gives devs making launch titles more time for polishing their games.

I know it sucks, but it's for the best.

They're telling people it's becuase they didn't have enough stock to supply demand, which is partially true.

But the REAL reason is because they wanted to squeeze another Holiday Season out of current model. That's the real truth. Retailers have tons of stock and Nintendo makes a boat load of profit on each unit sold.

ha! gullwing (TC) know tht they do not even sell Nintendo DSs here... its just cuz the wii is so famous tht we have some stores selling them (at possibly 300$+) and the same goes for the ps2 (which is around 150 - 200$ here)
