Ok, I admit I've not look THAT hard, but whenever I go into shops (those shown in Nintendo PDF file) I have NEVER seen them up on display (I've even tried 'GAME' and 'Gamestation' ). I've even gone to each of those shops websites & done searches - with no results (even 'Amazon' and 'eBay' don't show them)
[BTW I've tried '3ds' 'eshop' 'nintendo' 'prepaid' 'cards' in different combo's, as search terms]

Now I know you can use either eShop cards OR a Credit card but.....
- I prefer NOT to use my Credit card (that way I can't get into debt if I don't have the money, & yeah I know it's ONLY £10/£20 etc etc)
- I prefer to use Debit cards instead, (If there's something I want I MAKE SURE I've saved up the money first before buying - & yes I know it doesn't have the same online protection as a Credit card)

But - you can't use 'debit' cards on the 3DS eShop
  • So, Has anyone (In the UK) actually seen 3DS eshop cards ??
  • If so - Where ??
  • Was it IN the shop or the shops website ?? (If 'online' can you supply a link to it)
How about eShop cards around the world...
  • Could I buy online a eShop card from a USA website & use it in the UK ??
  • Have those in other country ALSO have a problem finding them in the shops ??
Thanks in advance

I would of thought the game shops would stock em and you to probably have to ask for em there as obviously they would be behind the counter.

Try Asda's or Sainsbury's perhaps?
Nope tried Asda and sainbury websites - no luck (those are 2 of the ones mention in the official Nintendo list of UK distributors)

Full list of UK eShop Card retailers are:-
  • ASDA
  • Gamestop
  • Sainsburys
  • WHSmiths
  • Morrison's
  • Co-op
  • GAME

No, you can not, sorry.
OK - thanks for that info

I was down ASDA yesterday actually, they don't have a 'counter' for their game section - even tried behind the counter at Argos - & our local 'GAME' shop was actually shut for some reason

When i said game shops i was referring to Game or Gamestation, as for websites, they operate independently to the stores as there stock and prices differ.

I found a bunch of WHsmiths, and bought one (in shop) that worked fine.

Game/tesco/sainsburys/hmv = all didnt have them and still dont but WHsmiths does. Check that if you have one in your town.

you can use 'debit' cards on the 3DS eShop, as I have done it many times
True. I use Visa electron, which is debit.
So hang on - despite shop stating 'Credit card' it WILL accept DEBIT cards as well ??
I wish it was made clearer what cards were accepted, guess I have to try this weekend.......

Thanks for the replies..... I'll have to also have a look in my local WHSmiths next time for the cards as well (funny how that shop ain't on Nintendo list though)

Well, not all debit cards.
I have a debit card from royal bank that isn't visa or mastercard so it doesn't work on the e-shop

The whole point to all this is that people may what to buy friends and family One eshop card as a gift, they must have thought of this.

Then they can but there Game on WIFI with there gift Card.

Where you cannot use a credit card in this case.

Its very sad that non do, Weldone Nintendo for losing out.

Debit cards work just fine. As long as they are Visa/MasterCard/American Express. When stores specify "Credit Card" it generally just means any of those cards will work. Visa Electron will generally not work however certain online stores will accept those as long as it has a card number on it.
I don't know why this distinction isn't clearer but I have never had a problem using my Visa debit card on any online store. I guess it's easier to say "credit card" as those are almost always one of Visa/MasterCard/AMEX.

Here (or this)

They're the only ones i could find in stock on the GAME website. They are just themed, looking at the description, you can buy anything with it.

If not, you can just buy a prepaid visa card (morrisons and tesco sell them for sure), I recommend the ones that use the website "www.gospendit.co.uk" (check the back of the cardboard thing it's in), you have to pay £2.95 extra (so if you buy the £25 one, you pay £27.95 at the till). I haven't seen a website that it doesn't work on yet (haven't tried it on eshop, since i prefer physical copies).

yeah, as others said, if it says visa/ mastercard/whatever they take, and your card has that, then you are good.
it doesn't matter if it is one of those giftcards, or a debit card, or a credit card.

lots of people just call the card a bank gives you 'credit card'.

i have seen the eshop cards in Game. :)

"since i prefer physical copies"

I agree, Zelda link between two worlds Physical now in shops asda / tesco £32.99 for the cartridge it's self + box and book, Online Download £39.99 That makes no scene at all, And one can sell on are part exchange a Physical Copy, Download you cannot.

A lot of there prices online are far more then the Game with box its self, they should really review this.

the vram is one advantage when it comes to AI but ends up being slower even with that and really AI is the only use case that needs more than 12gb vram right now

    Interesting lol

I think I watched a video where two games at 4K where eating just over 16GB of RAM and it's the one case where the 7900XT and XTX pulled ahead (minus RTX of course)
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
So my opinion is that they could age a bit better in the future, and maybe AMD will continue improving them via drivers like they tend to do. No guarantee there but they have done it in the past. Just a feeling I have.

cyberpunk at 4k without DLSS/fidelityfx *might* exceed 12gb

  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
but that game barely runs at native 4k
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I think it was some newer games and probably poorly optimized PS4 or PS5 ports
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
they definitely will age better but i feel dlss might outweigh that since it looks about as good as native resolution and much less demanding

AMD could introduce something comparable to DLSS but nvidia's got a lot more experience with that

least amd 7xxx has tensor cores which the previous generations didn't so there is the potential for AI upscaling

They have FSR or whatever it's called and yeah it's still not great
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
so AMD seem to finally be starting to take AI seriously
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Oh yeah those new 8000 CPUs have AI cores built in that's interesting
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Maybe they plan on offloading to the CPU?
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Would be kinda cool to have the CPU and GPU working in random more

    Tandem even
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
i think i heard of that, it's a good idea, shouldn't need a dedicated GPU just to run a LLM or video upscaling
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
even the nvidia shield tv has AI video upscaling
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
LLMs can be run on cpu anyway but it's quite slow

They would have the same hair style the same clothes everything... Really messed with my head lol

@The Real Jdbye, I could see AMD trying to pull off the CPU GPU tandem thing, would be a way to maybe close the gap a bit with Nvidia. Plus it would kinda put Nvidia at a future disadvantage since Nvidia can't make X86/64 CPUs? Intel and AMD licensing issues... I wonder how much that has held back innovation.
