I had a friend bring me his 3DS to repair. The board was getting no power and he said that he had read that the charging port needed to be replaced. I took him at his word, ordered the part, swapped it out, and bam! Still no power.

After some research, namely a thread here, I determined that it was a fuse. Testing revealed that it was the F1 fuse. I ordered the replacement fuse and a week later I replaced it. Now I have power to the board all over the place however it still will not power up or even charge. No lights. Nothing.

Any suggestions? I'm at a total loss here.

    Thanks,
    Norm

Do you have any pictures of your soldering and the fuse you replaced?
What happens when you push the power button? Any lights at all? Or just on and off quickly?

I can post pictures later today.

When I press power nothing happens. No lights, no sound, zero.

How have you been powering it so far?
as in have you been having the power cable connected or are you using just the battery?

Try leaving it powered on for a while. With my friend's 3DS, he had left it unused for a long time and he couldn't turn it on at first, but after leaving it powered for some hours it worked

So I guess the first question I would ask is what caused the fuse to blow, was it water damage or a dead short somewhere? If so you might to check for any corrosion or maybe another bad part down the line or perhaps a pop-corned chip

Thank you all for replying. I have not had a chance to get back to this at the moment. I think it may have been water damage and he's just not fessing up to it. :)

Did you fix it, i have a 3ds that i try to mod with a capture card, colors came funny in pc, try fix it, then would not power up but charging light will turn orange, read that it could be blown fuses, replaced fuses, now no light would come on, its like it would be dead
