I was thinking about getting a New 2DS XL & wanted to know if there's a flashcard that lets me play GBA Games & even Pokemon rom hacks & randomized roms, without having to hack the system.

Best card for emulating gba is this http://eng.supercard.sc/

Although it's shoddy, and you're way better off just hacking your 2ds and using vc injects

It's simple and easy to hack - so why not?

I'd recommend grabbing the 3DS CIA port of mGBA after installing hax, as Virtual Console is inaccurate trash.

i have a dstwo and gw blue card, at this point just use cfw emulators. The dstwo doesnt emulate well, there are a lot of frame skips for gba games and there isnt anything that resembles a pixel perfect mode the 3ds can do so the resolution will look bad and the screen size will be jacked up. You would have to buy a seperate micro sd card, and the dstwo will burn through your battery quicker due to the extra cpu need to emulate gba.

but using dstwo for ds is the best one IMO

gba vc plays using the ds cpu downclocked which is the same cpu that was original in the gba so you are basically playing a real gba so you basically just argued that the original gba hardware was trash and to use an emulator instead...

The DS emulator is also trash, as it's not accurate and missing functions. It's also not hardware-driven, but software, like Virtual Console.

    Research before posting.

Supercard tends to drain battery as well. As most people would agree, I would just install CFW and use the mGBA CIA. Virtual console injection can work with most roms, but mGBA will give better save features.

are you smoking rocks or just not very knowledgeable about the inner workings of the device? neither gba or ds are emulated ...ds is loaded via Virtualization not emulation hence why its run in a sandbox mode...looks like YOU need to do some research maybe start by looking at the ARM946 that are both in the 3ds and ds....I'll just leave this here for you to maybe be able to comprehend how it runs gba https://www.3dbrew.org/wiki/ARM7_Registers

inaccurate? afaik gba vc is very accurate when no weird hardware is used... its running on real hardware, after all...
also mGBA doesnt have the same performance. because its software emulation.

no, its playing on arm7 iirc, which is the gba cpu, not the ds cpu. its there because ds used it for sound or something...

the guy has absolutely no idea what he is talking about both ds and gba are run via hardware there is basically a ds built into a 3ds which allow it to also play gba games the same way old ds consoles did

true. I hate how misinformation spreads over the net so fast.

anyways. for the op, using a flashcart isnt very recommended, you should instead use mgba for more features and emulating some hardware or injects to vc for better performance and accuracy on basic games, which is most games.

that completely fucked up my quote didnt mean to quote all of the and to answer your question the ds uses both an arm7 (used for sound and 2d graphics etc) and arm946 and its the arm7 downclocked which works with the gba because its the same processor the gba had

EDIT: and I see NO reason to use an emulator over a gba vc 0 reason they run via actual hardware just get an r4 for ds games and make gba vc for all the gba games you want they will work exactly the same as a gba did

Virtualization == emulation. You quote the ARM7's registers while telling me to look at the ARM9. Plus, I do my research, thanks.

i said to START with the arm9...every reply you make just further proves how much you can't comprehend about how the 3ds works

You see, if the 3ds does not HAVE an ARM7, it's being emulated. The DS portion may be running the GBA code natively, but the DS portion is emulated, therefore potentially inaccurate. The 3DS and NDS share the ARM9, sure, but the DS uses both ARM7 and ARM9 to run, one of which doesn't exist on the 3DS.

if you actually bothered reading the the link I gave you the very first line says "The 3DS utilizes an onboard ARM7 core to handle TWL_FIRM and AGB_FIRM's ARM7 requirements" that alone proves my point you have no idea what you are talking about

You did not explain that the link held the direct correction to my post and made it seem as though you wished for me to study the ARM9 in depth so I did not check the link as I figured it was irrelevant as you had misunderstood. I concede, you were right. Now how about you quit treating those who are wrong as though they are to be cast out, like the rest of the scum pile that is GBATemp?

how about you quit posting around misinformation calling it "trash emulation" when it is in fact hardware for both the ds and gba then? the only scum here are the people who spread this misinformation as if its fact which only makes other people waste time on a less effective methods such as mgba when they could be using actual hardware

I was basing my assumption on there not being an ARM7 in the 3DS and the fact that GBx/SNES emulation are really inaccurate. You could've just clarified the issue initially, but you decided to insult me multiple times before even offering any evidence. Most Tempers do this, and it's sickening.

you told me to do research based on my first reply explaining how it works but im the one who insulted you? you serious right now? stop playing the victim you posted calling ds and gba shit on 3ds without even knowing what you were talking about thats the WORST thing to do
