*insert Half-Minute Hero joke here*

QUOTE(metamaster @ Jan 29 2011, 06:43 PM) Wii hacker Youness Alaoui, also known as KaKaRoToKs, announced on Twitter that he'd successfully unpacked the firmware and published its signing keys, opening the door for new custom firmware to be created that would mimic the latest update and allow hacked PS3s to regain access to PSN. [/p]
Considering that Dreamcast games are in PSN, hopefully this means we can eventually "inject" ROMs/ISOs in them the same way as Virtual Console games!

Come on Nintendo just give up.....!

Why are you acting like hackers own the world? Nothing is hack proof. Sure the PS3 has been hacked, but so has every other electronic thing in history.

Sony can't beat the hackers? Maybe not, but at least they kept them at the shore instead of in their base for 6 years. Which, last I checked, was a lot longer than the Xbox 360 and Wii managed to do.

Hackers had OtherOS and Linux to have their fun with the device. When that stuff started getting taking away is when the hacks actually started. So you can arguably say that it was less than a year after their removal that hacks appeared.

When your security system's as broken as Sony's is now there's no real way to stop hacks. They just need to damage control by getting some kind of sniffers into the PSN servers to try and root out and ban all modded consoles.
I can't believe they managed to code a Random Number Generator that only generates one number and declare it the most secure console in the world.

I fail to see why everyone is calling Sony for failing. Failing at what, I may ask?

Keeping the 1337 hax at bay or something.

They're just making sure their business model isn't broken to the average consumer. That's what a company does.
They can't just really leave their console hacked without trying to do something. It's virtually impossible for them to now fully secure it again but if Sony gives up on trying to secure then they will end up losing the support of devs. And no one wants that.
