I predict larger capacity first party battery, I just see the future. Liek 3DS is the awesomest thing when it comes out then a lot of omeri cans are disappoint in short battery life and 3DS almost dun goofd and nearly flops then Nintendo released the 15 hour battery and everything went better than expected.

Following the sources for the 8 hour battery I got this.

How's the battery power?
The system will take about 3 1/2 hours to charge and then last about three to five hours on a full charge. That's with the 3D effects activated. The company guesses that people who keep the 3D turned off could get as many as eight hours. Turning off the system's wireless via a switch, lowering its brightness settings or even running it in a dimmer power-save mode will all help the machine last longer. The system charges off of a power cord or while sitting in a plugged-in "cradle."
Anything other than 3-5 is not confirmed just a guess.

Well I can see a 3rd party battery happening. And if one does come out it'd be like maybe $20? It's not so bad when you consider that you JUST spent $250 on a handheld system IF you didn't do a trade in. And I play my ds on a setting of 2 all the time except when it's charging. but hey if we are lucky, Nintendo will release a new battery. Then again I could just be optimistic.

I had a very brief go on one today. The 3d effect was excellent, although you don't get it from looking over someone's shoulder, you have to be the one holding it.

The guy in the shop (not the Nintendo guy with the 3DS) said it lasted about seven hours yesterday without needing recharging. They had full 3d on all day, so make of that what you will.

I want one.

So 7 hour with the 3D on, but no mention of the brightness
