Hello all kinda complicated... sorry.

So I have a launch Switch. I had at 3.0 until the 1st DLC pack for BOTW, I updated to 3.0.2 using SMO cart.(this is where my Fuses are EXCEPT the cart slot. Not sure where the GC Cart slot Firmware is.) and then to 4.0 with a Xenoblade 2 cart (probably my GC cart slot firm). I then went EmuNAND. EmuNAND is currently at 10.2. Was day 1 Pegaswitch user. !st wave SXOS and day 1 Atmo user. IDK if that matters as far as logs. My clean backup had PegaSwitch at least ran on it. I don't recall if NAND backup was an option on day 1 SXOS. I definitely backed it up as soon as the option was available. I don't know if I can check the logs. Maybe the PegaSwitch 1337 error logged?

Recently I decided I want to go online. I restored my "cleanest" backup to my switch. It was on 3.0.2. (fuses match, except cart slot) I ran PegaSwitch but that's it on that backup. This is where my Switch stands. I am not sure when the last time I went online is either. Definitely before SXOS.

I was thinking maybe update with daybreak to 4.1 and hope my cart slot works again. Then I can boot with Fake News in to CFW, use a cartridge to update to something a bit higher before I use Nintendo servers to update the EmuNAND. Does Daybreak leave traces? IDK if I can just use that to update the EmuNAND. I am not sure what firmware I was on in the last connect to Ninty but it was 4.1 at the highest.. I hope if I go to 4.1 on SysNAND (restoring cart slot use and enabling Fake News) and then update a clean EmuNAND using a cart, then Nintendo won't see me being on a lower version. Nintendo will see that it's a cart FW update and not worry that there's no record of my online update and prevent a ban.

Is that the best plan of attack? Or do you have better ideas?

Thanks in advance for your input. I appreciate it!!

You could create two emunand if you want to preserve the sysnand firmware and fuse count, you could use one of the emunand for online if you have a clean nand to go from, and use another one for your hacking stuffs, don't install backup on sysnand and go online or you will get banned.

Try and see then. Most people would say have 2 swithces 1 for modded items and 1 for online only

That is easier but it is also doable on one switch, just that the user needs to seperate the NANDs and remember which one is for online and which one is for offline, technically he could create two emunand and just use one for online and use the other for his hacking stuffs. Ideally only if the game have online content then maybe he can consider if he want to play online like Pokemon Sword and Shield, but most stuffs you can just play offline.

I appreciate where you are coming from but I need someone who knows their shit. This is not your typical repeat the catchphrase moment. FYI some people go online in the SysNAND and keep everything else in EmuNAND and have been fine for years now. I can't do it that simply because I MIGHT have been online in 4.0. Might. IDK for sure. But the thing has NEVER been online higher than 4.0 because I never updated the NAND higher than that.

I remember doing the fuse less update through Nintendo servers by putting the jig in halfway through the update and holding Vol + skipping the bootloader and then initiating AutoRCM saving my fuses. That means I have to update to 4.1 just to be sure before I go online. 4.1 is still Fake news/Caffeine compatible so I think I want to go that route. No Jig required. Even though I have a Dragon Injector. I just don't know if that's feasible because to get back to 4.x I have to use Daybreak/or choi<--- LOL. I don't know if there will be evidence of me booting to CFW in SysNAND to get to Daybreak. I think not but IDK for sure. So maybe then update to 4.0 with DBreak in SysNAND to get caffeine. make a EmuNAND and go online with said EmuNAND... I'll use a separate EmuNAND or SD for my Dirty NAND. Haven't decided. Not sure if that's the best option... Or the right order to do things. There are a bunch of tutorials... IDK. Anyone know?

That's mostly the plan.... mostly. I am not sure if that's the best attack though. Not sure 100% how to pull it off... I have thought of a few scenarios.I am hoping to get a lot more feedback.. Any advice on how or good links to read? I have seen a couple tutorials on the temp.

I take all this with a grain of salt.. Not a noob at all. I know any fuckery or mistakes and it's ban hammer time. But staying offline is banning yourself. Could already be banned. I've been focused on a couple games and theming as far as Switch goes, like I said. I am a bit out of the loop when it comes to the newest best case. Caffeine is worth the hassle I think. If someone has 1.0 and no Puyo cart then their best case is go to 3.0 for Cafffeine/Pegaswitch.. That's the most useful firmware possible. Unless you have the Puyo cart and really like having 1.0. In my case 4.0.1 to 4.1.0 I THINK are the most useful firmware.. Then there's the issue of WHEN I make the EmuNAND. Before or after I update the SysNAND. I assume before but then I still have to update to 4.1.0 just to be sure I am at least equal to the firmware Nintendo has on file for me.I could go higher... Use a cart to go way up there and it would look like it's legit I think. In order to do that I still have to update with Homebrew because my GC fuse is burnt and not functional at 3.0.2... Hoping it is on 4.0... I can check fuse counts for the firmware but not the GC slot... AFAIK..

If you have the 1st ver of switch that can use rcm then just use incognito emunand for funny stuff and use clean sysnand for online and legit game. Personally im using a separate SD card for emunand/android and a clean sysnand for online and official games.

Honestly game cartridge fuses are useless since preserving them implies a future exploit will require a cartridge which you would to have to buy and nobody wants to pay money to hack their console. Downgrade fuses are more useful and carry no advantages when burnt so updating without burning these is recommended. Aside from that, any usage of CFW or homebrew can lead to a ban so even something like Daybreak is unsafe.

No. Cart fuses are totally important for 2 reasons. My oldest NAND backup is on a lower firmware. The only official way to get back up to 4.1 (for Fake news) is to use a cart with said update. Second reason is the possibility, no matter how slim, of a future save exploit. So I avoid burning any fuses. Just in case. Made it this long. Don't regret a thing. Also, it is common practice to have a clean EmuNAND. So you Fake News can live in the SysNAND. Some people have Linux on the SysNAND. Among other things. I know someone who has gone online with no physical NAND in his system at all. Just EmuNAND for as long as it's been possible. No ban. COULD happen. So could any number of hypothetical things. It's the consensus that as long as you are not pirating anything or cheating, putting porno on your avatar and other blatant acts of fuckery then you'll PROBABLY be okay. Mostly. I am willing to risk it. If you stay offline you ban yourself and their detection probably won't get worse in the future...
