Hacking 2GB Kingston MicroSD Made in Japan

Hey I dunno if this has been covered before, but they do make MIJ Kingston microSD now. I saw them with my own eyes at fry's electronics. They're going for $39.99 which is ok if you need to have all 2 gig in one chip, but bad if you look at the deals we've been getting on 512 and 1gb MIJ chips. I'm going to have to take a look around and see what I can find, if this was $19.99 that'd be a good deal.

Are the 2gb kingstons(japan) as fast as the 1gb kingstons(japan)?

i went to frys yesterday to look just for micro sd cards and they barely had any. and the ones they did have were just expensive like 25 bucks for a 1 gb kingston. amazon.com was cheaper than that. :/ i came out of that store with just 2 hori ds screen protectors

I saw these in the concord store. meritline has them for $22 and 1gb is like $12. I fill up a gig so fast I wonder if I should wait for another deal and buy some hehe.

My Japanese 1GB ones have 10.4MB/s average read, and 0.5/0.6ms access time.

I bought one a bit over a month ago as a Toshiba (if you don't already know - Toshiba is the manufacturer of the "Japanese Kingstons")

Read speed 18+ mb/s

Castlevania: POR freezes rarely on the M3 Lite, however it is fairly frequent on the R4 (enough to require frequent saving). Should be fine (ie. better than other cards) though.

Apart from POR, everything I have thrown at 2GB MicroSD (Taiwan) it works flawlessly.

Yep. The only reason you would upgrade from a previous 2GB to this one to to improve POR, and possibly have some protection in the future (and by then there would be better cards out)
