Will the DSi be easier or harder for pirating?

  1. Yes! SD slots! YES! Pirates will crack any protection!

  2. No, if they included an SD slot, they already thought of pirates.

    1. I really like the DSi, and my DSL is so shitty and the L button breaks all the time, so I'm definitely upgrading. But I wonder if they have a way to stop Pirating, now that there is an online store for (possibly) firmware updates, etc.

    2. So I've been hearing that sometimes there is no way for a certain game to be ported, or a certain emulator made because the DS doesn't have enough RAM to do it. But now that it has enough (not entirely sure, but they have a built in web-browser, online store, camera so it's probable), maybe it can be done... maybe a smoother SNES emu, or better ports of PC games.

DSi looks fantastic, can't wait for it [IMG].

So wait, the new DS will have the Web Browser already on it? I actually bought that web browser too. Guess I'll give it to my brother once I upgrade my DS when it comes out.

For the last time the DSi isn't an "upgrade" it's just like Xbox 360 with 80GB harddrive and Xbox 360 with 160GB harddrive, it's just another DS, not neccasarily an upgrade like the DS Lite was to the DS or the GBA to GBASP. I will prob get it even if flashcards aren't supported, I'll get it from A. the domain name money i get B. the bussiness money i get or C. wait 1 year till the price lowers.

I'm sure we all really care where your money comes from. No adult with an income would be so shameless (nor would they misspell business), making it obvious you're between the ages of twelve and fifteen and will be getting one for Christmas, or your birthday sometime next year. Way to go.

most people are probably thinking the sd slot will be hacked for playing roms, but don't forget that we haven't got any info of the capability of the sd slot. since nintendo intends for the sd slot to play music and pictures, they could simply make it only sd compatible (non sdhc compatible), or worse, limit the card to only 1gb cards. if that happens the sd slot wouldn't be very useful for roms

But that would also cut the effectiveness for music and pictures at the same time.

Why not just have an onboard 256MB storage and be done with it? That way you piss everyone off. =P

SDHC is probably...60% no for me guessing, but it would be interesting to see what measures they've put up, if any(!), to stop this being abused oh-so-much.

I hope we find out if the SD slot is used for running the DL games or used ONLY for music soon.

I'm pretty sure the SD slot will indeed be SDHC. Consider that there's no demand for production of regular SD drives anymore. It would actually cost Nintendo more money to produce the DSi with an SD drive rather than SDHC.

I mean, this is Nintendo we're talking about, the people who got rid of the late model Gamecube's digital out video port (and all support for component and 480p output with it) to save a dollar.

Hopefully with the extra RAM that can mean a GBA emulator and perfect SNES compatibility.

I can't really vote in this poll because the appropriate options do not exist for me to select.

You first poll option doesn't really make sense to me:

    Your question:
Will the DSi be easier or harder for pirating?

    Your selection options:
Yes! SD slots! YES! Pirates will crack any protection!
No, if they included an SD slot, they already thought of pirates.

What I would answer if you had the option to select:
This is yet to be determined.

As for your second question.....my answer is more complex than any simple poll option could possibly express.

The extra RAM is not only for the browser, but for GBA games that they will charge you to download to be able to play (I'd be willing to bet on the GBA pay-for-play deal). It will also be for their DSware shovelware games and potentially useful utilities.

So, you have my answers, though I am forced to null-vote.

If it doesnt have flashcards I wont buy new DS, simple. And I guess many ppl will do that, Nintendo should think about it too... the fortune of DS lite it's because of flashcards.

I don't care about these DSis, I want their firmware on my DSL. Period. I'll never buy a DSi since I feel like it's a useless update over the original DSL, so I really hope that the new FW will be DSL-compatible.

If nintendo going to do Virtual Console on DS, Imagine how long it will take to download 1 game...
Big game = long DL time
so...it might limit to small size game only = less onboard ram need.
Except It meant to be download pass the Wii+SD.
