    hello guys,

i got 2 questions about the xci and nsp files, cause i read something diffrent about it and now im a bit confused. :(

is it right, that i cant delete the xci file after i installed it? so, if i delete it, i cant start my backup, cause this file is like i have the gamecard sticked in? but does it matter when i need to update my backup, that the update file can be xci OR nsp?

the same question exists for me for the nsp installs...the nsp file is a "setup file" which installs the backup like i downloaded my game from the eshop? and also here...can i delete the nsp file, after install and the backup runs fine? and if i wanna update it, the update can also be xci or nsp?

i read, that sxos can handle it when i install nsp or xci, that i can delete the file after install? (but not from the start of sxos...that function was implemented in later versions?)
for myself....i got a switch from the release day of it. im running v8.0.1 and i use athomsphere 0.8.8. can someone please tell me, what is now true and what is false about the xci and nsp files?

    thank you so much :)

Xci files are mounted as gamecards, everytime you want to launch an xci game, you need to mount it and then play (but that method is only supported in sxos)..so if you delete it, you can't mount it thus can't play. Nsps are installed to either your nand or sd card (they are basically archives and you unpack them when installing), so you can delete the original nsp once it's installed. Updates are always in nsp, so you just install them and then delete the original upd file.

ahh ok. now i understand it. thank you for the quick reply. :)

hmmm, is than there already a way to convert xci files to nsp ?

(just asking, cause i think its a better deal, when i dump direct to nsp, cause after deleting the nsp, i have mor free space on the sdcard?!)

lol, when you install nsp and then delete the original file, it's still installed to your nand or sd, so it takes the same amount of space as if you had an xci on you sd. No difference in space, it's just if you want to install an nsp directly from switch, you need to have free space double the size of the nsp, e.g. 5gb nsp + 5gb when it's installed, so you need 10gb just to install it, then you can delete the 5gb install file...but with xci you don't need free space double you backup size, cause you don't need to install it, you just directly mount it and play, so you just need 5gb for it.

You can convert xci to nsp, search for 4nxci to do that. And you also can install nsp with usb, which doesn't require your switch to have free space double the size of your nsp (search goldleaf or tinfoil usb for that)

This entire thread disagrees with you. But what do I know? You're the one insisting m4xw posted a fake EmuNAND video, that SX OS doesn't contain copyrighted code, and other stupidly incoherent things. You have to be a troll because I refuse to believe anyone can be as dumb as you.

First off, tagging all of them only makes you a bigger nuisance. Secondly, you claimed 100% ban risk with 4NXCI which I already disproved with posts from numerous users that weren't banned. Unless they were lying, your ban risk about 4NXCI is completely false.

First everybody here know that if you use hacks you're gonna get banned eventually.

If you are totally sure about this, why you dont go online ans try it?

That's a broad statement to make. There are people of all caliburs on GBATemp, some people who know how to follow basic instructions while others can make awesome programs. But there are also complete noobs who don't even know how to open a ZIP file or the basics of hacking. You'll never know who you're interacting with so I feel its better safe than sorry to tell them the reality of the situation than tell them something else. So no, not everyone here knows that if you use hacks that you will get banned eventually. Its also for this reason that I don't use any CFW or homebrew.
