I bought a new Western Digital 2.5tb external hard drive for my Wii.
Whenever it is plugged in it will crash just about any homebrew program that tries to initialize it. (Wiixplore, wiimc, ect.)
However CFG seems to load it just fine.
Any way to make this work?

If I remember correctly, most homebrew requires that your USB device be formatted as FAT32.

Wiimc supports FAT, NTFS, and ext2/3/4 filesystems. Not sure about wiixplore.

Yea I knew WiiMC supported NTFS. But whenever I load WiiMC with my drive plugged in it crashes, when I unplug it WiiMC works just fine. So I know its a problem with the drive. I might try converting it to Fat32.

I think the problem is the "2.5TB"

you have to use either gpt partitioning or 4kB sector drives to get one partition bigger then 2TB
on wii gpt is not supported at all and 4kB is only badly

if its a 512B sector drive, using 2 mbr partitions might work
every partition will need to be smaller 2TB AND start before the drives 2TB mark

    read wikipedia for details

I'll provide some details of the drive in a second.
So apparantly a lot of the partition tools I have been using do not recognize the drive.
It is formatted as NTFS but Acronis Disk Director Suite and Home (Windows XP, 7) both say it is not formatted or its using 0x7, HPFS, NTFS. It is using 4kb blocks.

Splitting the drive into 1.17TB NTFS didn't seem to work. Still crashes my Wii.

How would I go about doing "making the partitions start before the 2TB mark"
