This weekend I was given the opportunity to try a newer method of soft modding a wii console because it was sold with the 4.0 firmware. Got to admit, bannerbomb plus Trucha Bug Restorer is a very fast and not complicated method of doing the task. Great progress on that front!
Only one issue arose which is the point for my thread today:
My PAL backup of Sports Resort works fine on MY 4.0U wii which was formerly a 3.2U configuration. If I tried my disc in this other console it would load the game but it had the vertical sync issues which sometimes come with PAL games that make them unplayable (black bar middle of screen, game is split at top and bottom of screen). No matter which vid forcing methods I tried I would only get green screens. Both the consoles had the r14 CIOS, neogamma r7, and a 4.0U firmware. The only difference is that MY unit was upgraded to get to 4.0, which somehow must have supported more video configurations.
