I think it has something to do with the fact that there's no zero?

Nah. Disregard that. I'm not the best at these brain teasers.

The second one I got right using MATHS.

[title:Math]
x is the bottle, and y is the cork
x + y = 1.10
x = y + 1.00
y + y + 1.00 = 1.10
2y = 0.10
y = 0.05
x = 0.05 + 1.00
x = 1.05
Thus the bottle alone is worth $1.05

I still get mixed up with this, always have. (derp!)
I think it has something to do with 1 being an "early" number and 12 being a "late" number, 1 being a logical start point, 12 an endpoint.
Oh, it's 10 PM, then it'll be 11 PM, then it'll be 12 PM (end of number sequence), then it'll be 1 AM (beginning of number sequence.)

Consider a grandfather clock, it is either 12 noon or midnight, the clock will start to chime, if the sixth chime happens in 5 seconds, how long does it take to chime 12.

You want to say 6th chime is 5 seconds, so 12th chime (6x2=12) would be in 10 seconds (5x2=10), when actually, you can deduce that;
[title:Was it all worth it?]
The 1st chime started it all off at 0 seconds
2nd at 1 second
3rd at 2s
4th at 3s
5th at 4s
6c at 5s (there's your five seconds for the sixth chime)
7c at 6s
8c at 7s
9c at 8s
10c at 9s
11c at 10s
and finally 12 chimes at 11 seconds.

I think I got that right, honestly, I'm confused now! Brain Hurt!

I read the original yesterday when you posted it, and while I had a bit of confusion about what you were talking about initially, after seeing the answer, I actually couldn't figure out how anyone would get the answer of 10 seconds. If it is there are 5 chimes to 6, then that means I'm on chime 1, which means there is 11 chimes to go to 12. Even now I can't really think how someone would multiply 5 by 2 to get 10 and think thats correct.

Your second question I'd seen before and I am aware how people can get that wrong.

Military time messes me up too. Hell, time is not my forte. I've always hated that there wasn't 100 seconds in a minute, and 100 minutes in an hour. Why isn't there metric time? Huh?
