Yes, mostly indeed. But TX got their own software inserted that makes it highly illegal.

    Issue:
Accidentally upgraded switch to 11.0.1, causing SX to black screen after splash screen; not working

    Preface:
A - I don’t care what actual games I lose, as long as I don’t lose my game saves
B - I am already banned on Nintendo servers, so protecting that is irrelevant
C - I have a NAND backup already created through SX OS for restore purposes
D – I can follow instructions, and am tech savvy, but not a veteran by any mean in Switch stuff
E - I have the SX Pro Dongle + Jig

    Looking for:
1 - How do I make the switch to Atmosphere, when I used to be on SX OS? Is there a "100% walkthrough" someone can recommend?

    * I have the SX PRO dongle, and the JIG. Do I still need the boot.dat file, license file, and/or anything else on the SD card before whatever steps for Atmosphere or is it best to just format in Fat32 completely and start fresh? Do I need Hekate? Basically I am a noob who needs a complete step-by-step..... TIA!

After a bit of reading, I switched to Atmos, then used Daybreak to downgrade back to 11.0.0.
As most of my games are xci, I'm not ready to leave SXOS just yet.
However, it looks like we'll all have to move across soon to play the latest games. And honestly, setting up Hekate and Atmos was really easy. The only annoying thing will be converting / installing all my games!

Got Atmosphere up and running, but like the post above - most of my games used to be XCI and now won't be, right? So as I re-install games, will I still have my game saves (to not have to start over) that were on the sysnand? Or since it's no longer XCI files the saves won't work? TIA!

Same saves work with nsp as with xci.

edit: few seconds to Google it: https://gbatemp.net/threads/how-to-install-xci-tinfoil.555700/

I've started installing the smaller xci files on my sd card. No problems there.
However, all my split xci's will need to be taken off the sd card, joined back together, then installed via nut?
At least, that's what I've gathered from reading various pages.
Anyone have a better / more efficient way?

Not sure about split xci. But most likely you can use Awoo, Tinleaf or NSAinstaller.
Tinleaf is Awoo with extra features that Blawar have added.

EDIT: Oh yeah... Blawar added support with usb-drivers in Tinleaf.

Really is a shame because it was easy to add/remove games and updates for my kids with SX OS and the xci format.
They each had a card and could swap it when they wanted or could ask me to remove games they didn't want to play and add them back when they missed it too much.
Is this really hopeless to be waiting for an update ?

Look nobody knows for sure whats they are doing, but at this point, with all the arrests and stuff, I personally wouldn't be holding my breath, but funnier things have happened

What is the easiest way of updating from 10.0.2. to 11.0.0. ?
I have a mariko unit pached with SX Core.
Do I update to 11.0.1 and then use daybreak to downgrade to 11.0.0. ?
Also does atmosphere support sx core patched units ?

Personally, I'm not worried at the moment as it's still profitable to them, but if that ceases to be the case I would be worried. Sometimes they skip a version as well because Nintendo just turns around and releases an update just to counter them so it makes sense to do this every other version. It also makes sense to hold back on a major update when new hardware is anticipated.

It wouldn't be as big a deal if a group stopped supporting their OS, but only if they released it open source near the end of it's life. I understand ceasing support when it ceases to be profitable, but I never understood why Gateway 3DS never went open source so that the community couldn't either take over or implement it's features.

The problem with these open groups is that, for whatever reason, they HATE the concept of using images of cartriges (i.e. .XCI or .3DS) and love having to install and uninstall all the time. This mentality would have to change in addition to features going open source.

I used to block specific nintendo servers at the router to keep people in my house from updating consoles accidentally, but my ISP phased those features out without telling me so someone in my house accidentally updated one of the online Switches. Which is fine for it, since it never had any mod installed, but it keeps it from communicating with the other consoles so there are lots of games we stopped being able to play as a result. So we are waiting on the update so that I can safely update the offline Switches to match the online Switches. I hope it continues at least as far as the Pro units because I already have the SX Pro dongles ready to install onto the online ones after the pros come out (eventually) and I migrate to using those as online Switches. I'll have to buy a new router and stop leasing to avoid this from happening again, but I'm waiting until I get a VPN router.
