The rest of the post:
We have seen quite a few people now complaining about lost/corrupt GBA game saves with the previous BETA - however until now we have still been unable to reproduce any such problems during our own testing If you have a problem with your GBA game saves with this BETA, PLEASE make a post with the BEFORE AND AFTER .sav files attached as well as a detailed description of the steps leading up to the problem you experienced. It would also be helpful if you could try to reproduce the error again so we know if its a one-off or can be reliably reproduced.
We would like to remind web-masters to please refrain from posting news about this build on your websites. This BETA build is not ready for mainstream use yet.
I thought they just meant don't post the DL link, and I'm not a webmaster, I'm just pointing the Cyclo users to the correct place to DL the file.
...waits for his Cyclo to arrive...
I don't get why we announced the 1.4b3 beta on the front page though.
Maybe because of this:
If it didn't have any bugs, it would be 1.4 final. Also, the lack of updates from Team Cyclops might have influenced the excitement of getting a new firmware with new features even if it was a BETA as for it to be posted on the front page. Just what I think.
Right now, this is how things have worked out for the GBA games.
GBA rom loading introduced
Some games have no problems saving (Like Wario Land 4)
Some games have problems saving (Like Sonic Advance)
GBA save files are now shared with GBA EXPloader
GBA roms are patched when loaded for savefile compatibility
GBA roms can be PSRAM loaded or NOR flashed from CycloDS Menu
Previously non-working games now save (Like Sonic Advance)
Games that were working fine are now broken! (Like Wario Land 4)
Claims that save file compatibility is improved
Still patching GBA roms THAT SHOULD NOT BE PATCHED.
Mine is still at 1.3 do I have to back up my MicroSD to update at all or is it safe to just put the file on and update?
I'm using 1.4b4. I always make back up of my microSD weekly anyway. So do that before you update.
I found nothing biggie with this update. But I've seen people who downloaded this have fixed their default background problem caused by 1.4b3.
It's always good to back up .sav files at least, but I never have. CDS has one of the best and smoothest updates I've seen, it even automatically deletes the update file after use so you don't need to.
Since I don't care about GBA games the only real difference I've noticed with this beta compared to 1.31 is RTS is now near perfect. That and the cheesy new 3d mascot is begging to be replaced with the old skin.
