    Wiikey is the most widely available modchip, but it requires you to keep it up-to-date in firmware to play games with tougher copy protection. D2CKey (or whatever it's called) may be a better choice though, what with the D2C chipsets being the ones you currently get off the store shelves (I think).

    Formatting will NOT work. The Weather and News channels are system channels, and can't be removed, ever. This includes the dupes. The only channels you can remove by formatting are VC titles and channels that can be downloaded via the Shop Channel, like Everybody Votes and the Internet Channel...

    Hacking SNES9X Help - Wiikey with 3.0E

    SNES game emulation on the Wii is basically just running Snes9x using Gamecube homebrew. If your modded Wii can run Gamecube backups, it can run Gamecube homebrew too. Google on "GCOS", and you'll find everything you need.
