really, it seems that everywhere else I looked, i've been told to patch religiously, do you mean still patch them but only patch on the Real Time Save feature to select ones I really need it for?- surfdaddy999

I have approximately 75 GBA backup roms on my microsd chip (1GB Sandisk, Taiwan Made) all patched with the M3 game manager (Real-Time-Save Enabled, Hardware Support 1) and in like 90% of the games on there, I hit A+B+L+R and it goes to the saving menu, but when I exit the sound or graphics will...- surfdaddy999

I wonder if I could recommend that to some emulation devs that perhaps the sound could use some smoothing out to simulate those old TVs -

I think a few of the early systems could benefit from that, at least up to the 8 bit generation, by the 16 bit generation I think TVs had gotten a lot better in almost every way

Just give it a try, but honestly if you have a 3DS you can play DS games without a card just off the internal SD card
