    Hacking Solderless Wii Modchip.

I don't see the point. You would still have to open up your Wii everytime a new update comes. Maybe with the cyclowiz, since you can update it via dvd. But still, we'll wait and see how secure to the board they're going to be.

Hacking Installed a Wiikey and my DVD drive doesnt work.

Its the piece of crap ribbon cable. If you don't put it back exactly aligned, you're going to get those problems. If you broke the holder off, you might as well return the wii. Same thing happend to me and not even taping it down would get it to align properly.

Hacking Strangest issue ever with a backup

That just means that the disk is a bad burn. I think the wii first reads the Disc ID to display the image in the Wii Menu and when you actually go to play it, i it begins reading the game.

Hacking The WiiKey for $30.62 Shipped!!!

Doesn't matter, all these chips are dvd drive hacks anyway, and they already do almost all the stuff that is possible for that hack. It's not like an update is going to make them run Wii Homebrew.

Hacking dumping wii and gcn games

Like the others said above, inorder to rip wii/gc images you HAVE to use the drives listed above because only those contain special debugging commands that are able to read wii/gc disks. The drive itself is inexpensive; you can get it for 18 bucks from newegg: Newegg LG Drive

Hacking OMG! Just installed Wiikey with quick solder

Quicksolder is not a simple easy solution that people think it is. It is much better to use wires to solder in case you want to eventually remove the modchip; the desoldering is easy. With quicksolder, you also risk getting solder all over the board which may interfere with some connection and...

Hacking Shit, I think I stripped my screws.

You have to be careful with the screws; the first time I closed up my wii, I accidently put the screw thats behind the battery door in the hole oppoisite it and it got stuck and wouldn't come out. Luckily, it was only the metal case that covers the dvd drive which is easily bendable or...

    Hacking wii modding

Don't get the cyclowiz man, its upgradablity is questionable. Go with the Wiikey; shouldn't be too hard to solder. Try practicing on an old cd player or cassette player before. There's of course the option to go with open source chips which requires more soldering and doesn't have all the...

    Hacking OpenWii Updates

You're right RobertsD, but apparently there is a patch out to make it work. Anitabill, take a look here Chiip Patch . This should help you getting it to work on the Chiip Atmels. Tell us what happens

    Hacking OpenWii Updates

Anitabill, I don't think this is gonna work on the atmels that we have for chiip. Firstly, the points that we installed to on the wii for chiip are different than the ones for open wii; If you look at the diagram again, instead of soldering to where #8 is , we soldered to that shiny pad between...

Hacking like to ask in the online shop on wiikey selling

Why would you get it from there, if you can get it from an official reseller like foundmy.com for cheaper ($39.99)?

    Hacking programmer for chiip

I haven't soldered anything to the chip yet but, when I was reverse soldering the pins of the ic socket, i forgot to take out the chip out from the socket. The chip felt hot (from the heat transfered) but the chip pins look alright. Could I have fried the chip this way?

    Hacking programmer for chiip

Ye, I used 220 Ohm resistors; I ordered all the parts from futurlec (which someone posted the part list before). The other times around, I had to go out and get 47uf capacitor at 35v instead of 25v from Radioshack. I also had to get get two 16 pin IC sockets and glue them together (the atmel...

    Hacking programmer for chiip

I downloaded the batch files that Perplexer linked to and downloaded the AVR DUDE Chiip Beta 4 file. I clicked on install giveio , and then clicked on program and I still get the same message "avr device not responding". Here is a pic of the 4th programmer I built: (I used 30 awg wire) I...

Hacking One little thing you'll want to be careful of...

The same thing happend to me, and I didn't know where the nut came from until I screwed the wii back in place and the battery door wouldnt shut. I eneded up opening my Wii again and using a tweezer to put the nut back into place and the battery screwed ok after that. Also watch out not to...

    Hacking programmer for chiip

I have tried building the programmer for Chiip four times and every time I run the programmer from chiipwin32.exe file, it says "avr device not responding" "initialization failed rc=1" I don't know what I'm doing wrong; I have checked the connections and they all seem to be ok and it still...
