    Homebrew OPEN_AGB_FIRM discussion thread

Saves should go in /3ds/open_agb_firm/saves, not the ROM folder.

    Exception occurred error (Arm11)

I don't think these errors are likely to cause any problems, though obviously they are the sign of a problem. If it's happening with lots of games, including unpatched games, I'd suspect an issue with your SD card. For more help, you ought to tell us about your system. What hardware and system...

Hacking Starting native firmware without removing hacking on Nintendo 3DS

Yeah, "the guide" is the page I was referring to when I said that. Is there no way to boot an unpatched NATIVE_FIRM on a region changed system then? And is this the same for TWL_FIRM or is that a different issue?

Hacking Starting native firmware without removing hacking on Nintendo 3DS

safety_test essentially does the same thing, but is not directly bootable from fastboot3ds, so the age of the post doesn't seem relevant. Nothing significant has changed. However, thank you anyway since the page where I downloaded the script has the additional information that this won't work...

Hacking Starting native firmware without removing hacking on Nintendo 3DS

I can't seem to get this to work. The screen just goes black and requires a hard shutdown. I don't totally understand the following: I don't think I ever changed movable.sed. I know the BannerBomb3 exploit I originally used to hack the system involved the movable.sed, but it didn't change the...

Goomba Color does not fully support SGB palettes, right?

Since I can't find a discussion of this anywhere, I'm just looking for confirmation of it or else a pointer on how to get SGB palettes working correctly. As far as I can tell, Goomba Color only supports SGB borders and switching between (custom?) 4-color palettes, but does not support the...

Can get banned for modding 3ds

If you're not talking about playing online, what do you even mean by "ban"? Mario's not gonna come to your door and confiscate your 3ds, no.

Homebrew Dreamcast Emulation May Be Coming Soon

But it has gotten better. It's still not great, but it has gotten better, with each release, in fact. I doubt we'll ever see a usable Dreamcast emulator on the 3ds, too, but I agree that anyone saying it's "impossible" is wrong. If the 3ds homebrew scene had been more active, especially after...

No 800x240 support in RetroArch on the New 3ds/2ds?

Anyone know why it hasn't been implemented? It seems to me like a killer feature, especially for systems with 256x240/224 resolution. They could run at an uninterpolated 768x240 (if you didn't mind the stretch, which would look like 1.5:1) or you could have a much, much less blurry 1.33:1...

    Homebrew [Release] PrBoom+ 3DS Port (GPU-accelerated)

A simple solution, at least for the 3dsx version, is just to accept pwad path as argv, then we can make xml shortcuts and launch them directly from the HB Launcher. I haven't had a chance to test it yet, but is the 800x240 resolution mode supported with the 3D parallax layer disabled?

    Gaming Must Play DS Games

Someone else put Monster Tale in a list, but let me just highlight it since you asked for obscure platformers. It's basically like a continuation of the Wonderboy/Monster World series.

ROM Hack Sonic 2 XL romhack on r4 card / JenesisDS?

How big is the ROM after patching? Heavily patched ROMs are often a lot bigger than the original game. JenesisDS only supports ROMs up to 3MB because of the DS' RAM limit. I don't recall if larger ROMs are supposed to show up on the menu or not, but maybe that's your issue. Did you post this...

    Homebrew [RELEASE] DaedalusX64 (N64 Emulator)

The Vita version of DaedalusX64 does audio emulation on a different processor entirely, not just a different core. Synchronizing threads on multiple cores/processors is a pretty basic task in programming these days and shouldn't require any hacky workarounds like per-game fixes.

    Homebrew [RELEASE] DaedalusX64 (N64 Emulator)

Disabling sound emulation gains 3-5fps, so does that mean that the audio emulation is running on the same core as the main CPU and interface? Wouldn't it be easy to handle the audio emulation on another core, especially unsynchronized, and get those extra frames even with sound on?

Is it possible to use an nds rom and a custom cartridge to trick the system into thinking I have a real copy of a game?

Wasn't there a DS flash card that had a special memory space you could load a rom into that made the card into essentially a single game repro? One of the EZ-Flash models, I think. No idea how hard those are to find these days, though.

How to Stop Retroarch from Creating Core Forwarders?

There's no way thay I know of. You could just put the launchers for the individual cores in a folder and put that at the end of your home menu. You could also use the 3dsx files instead of the CIAs. If you don't otherwise use any 3dsx apps, you can replace the boot.3dsx on your SD card with the...

    Hacking Luma3DS - Noob-proof 3DS Custom Firmware

Autobooting 3dsx files only seems to work about 1 in 10 times that I start up the system. The other 9 out of 10 times, there's an ARM11 exception error screen (prefetch abort in process ns). Autobooting into DSi mode works more often, but still fails a lot. Probably about 50% of the time. When...

Neo geo marvel vs capcom rom

Marvel vs Capcom is not a Neo Geo game. It's for the CPS-2. CPS-2 emulation is available in RetroArch with the FBAlpha core. Probably only playable on a New 3DS.

need help compiling .nds as a noob

What do you mean by "it told me to stop"? What told you to stop and what was the exact message? If you installed the environment correctly, all you should have to do is type "make" in a command prompt at the directory that has the Makefile in it. The tutorial you mentioned is quite old and...
