One or more of the ribbon cables on the far upper right side of the motherboard are loose... it's highly doubtful it's damaged as you would have to damage more than one to have the screen not work... when trying to reconnect the ones under the motherboard if you open the ds all the way (so both...

The n3ds is a bit picky but the o3ds is happy with pretty much anything (so iv been told not tested myself) but if $8 is no big deal to you order one and let us know if it works cause I'd love to know (but not so much that I'm going to waste $8) auto If it's the one from the first post it...

There is next to zero risk into a sd card adapter... the risk is if someone comes along and plugs a usb charger into the USB port on the 3ds however remote that may be. There is pretty much no risk of causing a problem with a specialty plug(4 pin socket non standard like the one asked about) as...

Since you need 4 connections The power pin must be connected, in most setups iv seen posted it's connected to dat0, I personally would not want to apply 5v to the data line.. since the nand is 3.3v most likely nothing would happen but I wouldnt want to test it. micro usb is really only 4 usable...

they are all the same, all they do is spread out the pins from a microSD to SD size. some are nicer to solder to than others, I used a G. Skill one that had quite large pads to solder to but anything will work just be sure to use very small wire... 30awg ribbon cable works nicely.

Ok I got it working... I think it was the GND I used. even though all my connections where good(tested thoroughly with a multi-meter and I had a good GND I ended up switching the GND from the one I used(power connector) to this one(pic in spoiler tag)... and that worked... I don't see why it...

IT would most likely be the ribbon cables on the bottom of the motherboard.. if you open the ds all the way(so both screens face the table) you can get an extra 1/4" of ribbon cable to work with... my top screen stayed black at first and the ribbon cable looked seated but when I looked at it...

You need to remove the motherboard... it's on the bottom and is obvious once you see it. Look a few posts back with a large pic for details on the different socket types and a link to a in depth motherboard removal guide

yes as if it was an SD.. by looking at that what I would do is de-solder all the pins at the front of the board, and solder directly to them that way removing the annoyance of soldering to a tiny bendable pin. im guessing you could do it without any de-soldering tools(wick sucker etc) by heating...

Was going to say that but the linked guide covers it... also no reason to remove the joystick but in both cases it's easier.
