    Hardware GBA Backlight! (AGB-001)

I'm glad so many people were able to get things working. There may be further differences in the motherboard revisions beyond a simple 32pin and 40pin variation. Why else have different printing after the 1 or 0 on the mobo? Just a thought, but it may be the ribbon type as well. But hey, as...

IMO, if you have a 40-pin GBA you should use a screen with a brown connector. It's been proven to work without problems. If you use a white tabbed screen with a 40-pin GBA, then you're venturing off into unknown territory. The easiest solution would be to buy a 32-pin GBA off ebay and use...

    Hardware GBA Backlight! (AGB-001)

Well, this will be a good experiment. Three people all with white tab "B" screens and 40-pin motherboards. I'm curious to see if maybe the type of ribbon used will make a difference. Please post the results. If it doesn't work then know that the 32-pin motherboards start at above AU6xxxxxxxx...

    Hardware GBA Backlight! (AGB-001)

If that's the final appearance I'd say go back and do some more research as to what points need to be soldered together. There were a few previous posts here, here demonstrating a problem that looks similar to yours, but with a 40-pin. It looks like the method you tried was the like the first...

    Hardware GBA Backlight! (AGB-001)

There's an inconsistency with the 3rd party screens in that their connector colors and lead widths don't match up with the way the OEM's do. For the OEM screens, the "AB" screen with differing lead widths has a brown/black connector. Taking a look at this post you can see that the 3rd party...

Both came from ebay and within the past month. I'm fortunate I found the second "B" screen with the white connector as that's the one I ended up needing for my 32-pinner. I guess I'll be re-selling the "AB" with the brown connector, since it's redundant.

And the finished product. I had to adjust the potentiometer a bit as I was getting some interlacing artifacts. Looks good, man!

Here's the GBA to be operated on. All the requisite new parts. Shell, glass screen, and 32-pin adapter ribbon. Since I discovered the crack in my old shell there was no way I'd be using that. The two different screens. "AB" type is brown connector and is said to work equally well with...

    Hardware GBA Backlight! (AGB-001)

I'm nearly to the point where I'm going to do the mod. With all the talk of "AB" and "B" screens and which is best for what, I went ahead and got a one of each screen type and I'm going to test both in my 32-pin AGB-001. In fact, I have everything I need to do the mod, but I discovered a crack...

At almost $35 each it's an expensive add-on. It may be worth it for some people, though. I'll live with the brightness you get without it.

    Hardware GBA Backlight! (AGB-001)

That's great news. I'm currently awaiting my 32-pin adapter ribbon from a seller in China and then I'll do the mod. I'm also adding in the optional brightness switch that Rose Colored Gaming used to provide for. That is to say it's the switch that you install at the convenient location at the...

    Hardware GBA Backlight! (AGB-001)

Since it seems like the supply of screens has dried up I'm happy that I was just able to snag a stand-alone AGS-101 screen off of Ebay for $40. It's the "AB" type with the black/brown connector and I plan on installing it into my 32-pin GBA. Are there any problems I should anticipate with...
