Hardware PSP-3000 On Screen Keyboard not working?

Nevermind, I figured out it was constantly detecting input on the start button, I've replaced the entire lower button bar with one from a parts console and now it works

Hardware PSP-3000 On Screen Keyboard not working?

I just got a psp 3000 off ebay, and it has a weird problem with the keyboard. basically whenever I try to enter any text (console nickname, network password, in-game character naming, etc.) it doesn't pop up the keyboard. It'll just sit there no matter how much I press O (it's japanese and I...

Hardware Nintendo to double Switch production for 2017 following strong demand

I hope it ends up selling well enough to get an updated version later on (I'll do my part, gonna buy one as soon as they're in stock again) and I sort of hope any updated version is a thing with built in controls, bigger battery, and a similar form factor and screen size to the PS Vita, because...

    Hardware GBA Backlight! (AGB-001)

The reason, as detailed in an excellent video by This Does Not Compute, is that on the original DMG and pocket, the polarizer and reflective film were on the back of the screen, and could be peeled off and replaced, whereas on the color and advance the polarizer and reflective layer is...

    Hardware GBA Backlight! (AGB-001)

Like I said before, you can get a ribbon cable adapter. It will connect your 34-pin GBASP LCD to your 32-pin GBA logic board. Then you'll have to solder on a wire to connect a point on the ribbon to a point on the board to power the backlight. That's it. That lets your 34-pin LCD run off your...

    Hardware GBA Backlight! (AGB-001)

Here's a helpful guide: https://rosecoloredgaming.files.wordpress.com/2013/11/gba-back-light-instructions-v41.pdf Unfortunately, the maker of the guide does not sell the ribbon cable adapter kits anymore, but you can find them on ebay, just search "gba ribbon adapter" or similar.

Under the barcode sticker on the GBA, there's a hole directly over a trimpot. You can peel away the sticker and get a screwdriver in there to adjust it while the power's on.

Have you peeled the black thing off the back of the screen?

Fairly certain you'd have to make a mold of an existing housing and use translucent coloured epoxy/resin/whatever it is these people use in said mold.

No soldering required, if you get the right cable. Sellers list which screen/board combo their adapters are for in the description most of the time, as well as whether soldering is needed.

They do sell 40 pin ribbons for white tab, that's what I've got in mine. They'll say in the description what screen they're for. It's a lot easier to just get the new ribbon than a different motherboard and ribbon.

This looks exactly like my first attempt at the mod. The problem I had then was the wrong ribbon for my screen.

    Hardware GBA Backlight! (AGB-001)

Unfortunately I'm not entirely sure. I got my adapter from a fleabay listing that specifically said it was for 40-pin mobos and white-tabbed screens, and haven't really fiddled with it beyond that. At some point earlier in the thread, some guys talked about soldering wires between RECV and...

You might try cleaning the contacts on the board with rubbing alcohol, and the contacts on the rubber pad by gently rubbing them on a sheet of paper for a couple of seconds. That tends to fix non-functioning buttons.

So I think I might have just figured out the difference between the brown and white tabbed screens: If you look at individual pixels under strong magnification, you can see on the white tabbed screen there's small black spots in the same place on every single colour segment in every pixel...

    Hardware GBA Backlight! (AGB-001)

There's rechargeable battery packs specifically for gba, where they basically take the place of both the batteries and the cover and have a socket for an included ac adapter in the bottom, that can be found with a little searching on the fleabay. Alternately, rechargeable packs designed for wii...

    Hardware GBA Backlight! (AGB-001)

Unfortunately, I have no experience with 32-pin GBAs or backlight modding thereof. However, just judging by the fact that the SP screen is 34 pins, two of those pins being devoted to the light, whereas the 32-pin GBA is, well, 32 pins, all devoted to the pixels on the screen, I would assume...

There are adapters for either screen to either mobo. Mine is a white tabbed screen on a 40 pin, no soldering and everything works. Just make sure to ask the person selling you the ribbon what screen and board it's compatible with.

Just quickly checking in here, is anybody selling the screens at anything resembling a reasonable price? The cheapest I can find are used consoles in the $100+(USD, so near enough $140 for me) range at the moment, and the screens alone are going for about the same on aliexpress. Kind of a bummer...
