Hacking 3DS XL NAND access via USB Mod

https://3dbrew.org/wiki/Hardware#New_3DS_XL Also there's no convenient hole for the microUSB like the old 3DS XL so you'll have to drill your own.

    Hacking Fixing my 3DS XL

Well I can't remember much since I swapped this 3DS XL but I believe it wasn't needed for the console to function. I ended hardmodding the 2nd o3DSXL successfully with a microusb to NAND port.

Hacking Gateway user, does it worth to install a CFW?

I'm using the A9LH exploit + AuReiNand CFW for 100% boot rates and cuts boot time by around 5s compared to menuhax + CFW/Gateway. I've had Gateway since the MSET exploit days but I only use it now for the cheats menu and to easily install a CIA manager from the red card on a new emuNAND. But if...

ROM Hack So... VC Injection isn't necessarily working in the way I had hoped it'd work...

Have you patched AGB_FIRM on sysNAND/emuNAND? Golden Sun 2 is 16MB and is working perfectly fine for me. Edit: Just noticed you mentioned HANS injection, I don't know then.

Hacking emuNAND Tool - Release and Support thread

Yeah, managed to get my realNAND onto my emuNAND when the private beta got released. Just had to read up on dd's options to get it done. I'm a recent convert from Windows to Linux and I'm loving it B-)

    Hacking Gateway PRIVATE BETA 2.3b

Well through the system settings definitely works, I'm not sure whether it was through the eShop or/and the nag that also updated your emuNAND.

    Hacking Gateway PRIVATE BETA 2.3b

I see no reason why it shouldn't work.

    Hacking Gateway PRIVATE BETA 2.3b

Copied over my sysNAND with my eShop purchases to my emuNAND, that works fine. Can't seem to update MK7 though... Updated through eShop indirectly, works great.

Hacking emuNAND Tool - Release and Support thread

After snooping with a hex editor, seems Gateway have left a little note at the start of their emuNAND "GATEWAYNAND - THIS IS DUMMY SECTOR, SEARCH FOR "NCSD" FOR REAL SECTOR" in ANSI. The real sector is actually at the end of the unformatted blocks, Gateway seems to have implemented a dummy...

Hacking emuNAND Tool - Release and Support thread

I'm trying to write a simple script to do this in linux. Does anyone know whether the 954MiB emuNAND image is at the start or the end of the unformatted 1.0 GiB blocks? I've tried truncating so that I'm left with the first 954MiB worth of blocks but that image didn't work when written to sysNAND.

Hacking 3DS NOOB PARADISE - Ask questions here

Ah this makes a lot of sense, thanks much for clearing all this up. In other news Gateway decided to magically format emuNAND after the nth try, all is looking up B-)

Hacking 3DS NOOB PARADISE - Ask questions here

So since sysNAND andd emuNAND are byte for byte copies, wouldn't eShop purchases work on both. From what I've read on here is that purchases made on one type of NAND do not work on the other?

Hacking 3DS NOOB PARADISE - Ask questions here

Oh, I always though they'd updated their sysNAND and kept the data on the SD card. Is it because the update data and eshop purcahses are tied to NAND, not just the machine? Or maybe people have just meant the NAND all along but used 'tied to the machine' for convenience?
