Thanks for the great advice. Unfortunately, I missed out on both systems I asked about; they both sold out from the sellers while I was waiting for replies here. Hacking Where to get a firmware 4.5 or below 3DS XL?
I missed out on getting the last 3ds xl I inquired about, but I found another blue/black. This one's serial number is "SW122425989" and it a 2013 USA system. Would this for sure be running 4.5 or lower fw? I would like to know before I buy. Thanks guys.- ChristopherH

Hi guys, I am new to the 3ds scene, and I'm still learning, but would I be safe buying a "SW1224xxxx x" blue/black 3DS XL? I know nothing is a sure thing, but I thought I would ask those more knowledgeable just to be safe.- ChristopherH
