Homebrew WIP SNES Classic Launcher For Nintendo Switch

As a stopgap until something better comes along, I think it was a great implementation. Anyone have a fresh link for download?

Hacking Updating games with a banned switch

Yeah, HBG Shop is significantly easier, since they mostly are just focusing on new stuff now that they've basically completed the collection. Easy to find, too.

Hacking Updating games with a banned switch

That's fine. Search for updates to your legit game in the same manner that OrGoN3 stated, and you'll be good to go. Downloaded updates definitely work on legit games.

Hacking Cannot load OFW or CFW

Took me a while to get back to this point as, since I restored my original nand in accordance with wartutor's suggestion, I had to get back to my manually installed 6.0.1. Lol, I didn't even bother backing that up, so I just re-did everything, and it took significantly less time. In any case...

Hacking Cannot load OFW or CFW

I actually just tried that, and it was a bit different than with the downgraded firmware. After downgrading, attempting to load didn't disconnect me from RCM mode when going to black screen. On my original nand, it does. Not sure which one is "proper", though I may use a fresh set of files on my...

Hacking Cannot load OFW or CFW

The 128GB card is FAT32. I was using it in a Wii U prior to this. I used PC Choidujour to downgrade to 6.0.1, since it can't be used to upgrade. Typical steps: derive the keys.txt and my BIS keys, use the keys.txt to create the firm, memtool to access each part of the band, and manually...

Hacking Cannot load OFW or CFW

Hey, all! I know this is the bajillionth thread like this (because I've read through a lot of them trying to figure this out), but I got a bit careless at some point and screwed up my Switch. I should note that I can still boot into RCM, so I don't think everything is lost, or anything. I'm...

Hacking GW 3DS on firmware 9.4 - any idea when it'll happen?

Nope. Nintendo placed a lot of focus on encrypting the system itself to the point where the only thing holding you back is a possible firmware mismatch (where it would ask you to update on a normal cart). AFAIK.

Hacking GW 3DS on firmware 9.4 - any idea when it'll happen?

This thread here talks about the differences. If you're going to backup games and don't care about paying for your eshop games, get a Sk3DS. If you want to do all that, plus use homebrew and modified roms and such; take a chance, buy a N3DS from a place like Best Buy with a good return policy...

Hacking GW 3DS on firmware 9.4 - any idea when it'll happen?

Soon.™ In all seriousness though, GW would need to find a new kernel exploit in 9.4, which involves a lot of luck (from what I've heard and read around here). The best place to go for Gateway news is the Gateway 3DS website itself, then here. Sky3DS is a good flashcart if you're looking to...

Hacking How to be sure to buy a N3DS XL <= 9.2 ?

Standanrd N3DSes have a much better chance of having a FW ≤9.0. Because I didn't want my GW to go to waste, even though I have a SKy3DS, I went to Best Buy and bought a second one. Black. It's not a sure thing, but I could at least return the thing immediately if the FW wasn't what I wanted.

Hacking Sky3DS or Gateway on New 3DS XL (9.7)?

If the blue button ever comes off, you can always just press the button inside with your stylus.

    Hacking RegionFour Released By Smealum!

Awesome! Time to get back to playing TR Dragon Quest on my main N3DS.

Hardware If anyone is looking for a =<9.2 N3DS XL...

I actually just bought a black one from Best Buy yesterday, so if you live in the US, there's still that option. It came with 9.0

the vram is one advantage when it comes to AI but ends up being slower even with that and really AI is the only use case that needs more than 12gb vram right now
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
    Interesting lol
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I think I watched a video where two games at 4K where eating just over 16GB of RAM and it's the one case where the 7900XT and XTX pulled ahead (minus RTX of course)
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
So my opinion is that they could age a bit better in the future, and maybe AMD will continue improving them via drivers like they tend to do. No guarantee there but they have done it in the past. Just a feeling I have.
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
cyberpunk at 4k without DLSS/fidelityfx *might* exceed 12gb
    +1
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
but that game barely runs at native 4k
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I think it was some newer games and probably poorly optimized PS4 or PS5 ports
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
they definitely will age better but i feel dlss might outweigh that since it looks about as good as native resolution and much less demanding
    +1
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
When I played Cyberpunk on my old 2080 Ti it sucked lol
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
AMD could introduce something comparable to DLSS but nvidia's got a lot more experience with that
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
least amd 7xxx has tensor cores which the previous generations didn't so there is the potential for AI upscaling
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
They have FSR or whatever it's called and yeah it's still not great
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
so AMD seem to finally be starting to take AI seriously
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Oh yeah those new 8000 CPUs have AI cores built in that's interesting
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Maybe they plan on offloading to the CPU?
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Would be kinda cool to have the CPU and GPU working in random more
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
    Tandem even
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
i think i heard of that, it's a good idea, shouldn't need a dedicated GPU just to run a LLM or video upscaling
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
even the nvidia shield tv has AI video upscaling
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
LLMs can be run on cpu anyway but it's quite slow
  • BakerMan @ BakerMan:
Have you ever been beaten by a wet spaghetti noodle by your girlfriend because she has a twin sister, and you got confused and fucked her dad?
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I had a girlfriend who had a twin sister and they would mess with me constantly.... Until one chipped a tooth then finally I could tell them apart.... Lol
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
They would have the same hair style the same clothes everything... Really messed with my head lol
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
@The Real Jdbye, I could see AMD trying to pull off the CPU GPU tandem thing, would be a way to maybe close the gap a bit with Nvidia. Plus it would kinda put Nvidia at a future disadvantage since Nvidia can't make X86/64 CPUs? Intel and AMD licensing issues... I wonder how much that has held back innovation.
