I have one of those usb-gb converters. I tried with both front and back USB and had two controllers attached (tried with 1 too). Version 3 of the program has the following output attached. Hacking Nintendont
I've got a Gamecube to USB I used with dolphin (just like the one above). It has a the force back too working. I'm waiting for a copy of Wii Indy Jones to exploit my wii u. Hopefully I get to try it out this weekend and will report back.- tribloke

I think a few of the early systems could benefit from that, at least up to the 8 bit generation, by the 16 bit generation I think TVs had gotten a lot better in almost every way

Just give it a try, but honestly if you have a 3DS you can play DS games without a card just off the internal SD card
