Gaming Nindies@Home Lets Players Test-Drive 9 Indie Games During E3

Well, it's not a fangame anymore. Every trace of Sega's IP was removed from it. The lead dev's ambitions grew and many of his ideas wouldn't work in a fangame, so he decided to use a new IP, run a kickstarter, and found an indie studio to make his game. It worked out well; in spite of obvious...

Gaming Nindies@Home Lets Players Test-Drive 9 Indie Games During E3

Oooh, Freedom Planet! This is one of my favorite indie games on PC, and I'm absolutely going to rebuy it on Wii U in August. I'm glad to see Nintendo promoting it like this.

Capcom announces Mega Man Legacy Collection and confirms E3 Lineup

If this Mega Man collection has a proper save system (not savestates; real saving between stages to replace passwords) it'll be an instant buy for me. If it doesn't, it'll be a non-buy for me.

Are these the greatest games in the history of the video game industry?

None of these games will ever make it into my favorites list, not when they've all been done better by sequels and remakes, but all of them hold great historical significance. Sure, Super Mario Bros. 3 may be a better game than Super Mario Bros. in every respect, but we wouldn't have one without...

Modders Fix FFXIII PC Port's 720p Lock

Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance has a stellar PC port, by a studio who'd never worked on PC before that, no less. I think it's just a matter of mindset; Square Enix's PC ports are crappy because Square Enix really doesn't care. Some studios, like Capcom, know they're not equipped to do a good job...

Modders Fix FFXIII PC Port's 720p Lock

The PS3 version ran at 720p natively, upscaled to 1080p. That's actually the case with most PS3 games that claim to have 1080p support. In practice, it's not too different from letting your GPU upscale to 1080p before your monitor gets it.

Modders Fix FFXIII PC Port's 720p Lock

Remember that "Shinra" streaming service they announced? The only reason this game even got a PC port is for that. The Steam release was just a side effect. The lock was less a hard lock, and more that they didn't bother to add support when they ported it, because Shinra didn't need it and...

Retro City Rampage dev appeals to Wii pirates for help achieving sales threshold

I already own this game on Steam, but I might give it another purchase just to help him hit his threshold. Frankly, this is a rather scummy policy on Nintendo's part. I'm glad they've changed it on the Wii U and 3DS, but it sucks they won't afford that same opportunity to Wii indies retroactively.

Microsoft Has Been Working on VR for "quite a while" - Says Phil Spencer

I know MS was working on that thing that projects colors all around the room to make something more immersive. Is that what he means? It didn't go anywhere, and wasn't really VR anyway.

Want $10,000? Get Quake III to run on Raspberry Pi

Looking at the rules, it seems they want 1080p and a minimum 20FPS. Should be quite feasible for someone who knows the hardware, knows the game, and has experience optimizing code... but I have no clue how common or uncommon that particular combination of characteristics actually is.

GBAtemp Recommends #98: Metroid Prime Pinball

Metroid Prime Hunters may have been a lousy game, but Metroid Prime Pinball is absolutely stellar. In fact, I would love to see this one remade as a budget download game for Wii U. This'd be great in HD.

Wii U Launch Line Up Set

After the Wii and GameCube both missed having a proper Mario game at launch, this is a definite step in the right direction, especially if NSMBU actually brings something significantly new to the series (after three NSMB games in a row that all pretty much went only slightly up from the original...

GBAtemp one off portal survey- most disappointing DS game

Bomberman DS. As someone who grew up with the SNES games (and emulated Super Bomberman 3, 4, and 5) I was so surprised to find that they took out so many of the creative maps and items from previous games in the series. Bomberman DS was extremely barebones, just a shell of what the series has...

    Diablo 3 Accounts Being Hacked

Because Blizzard is the second coming of Christ or something. People will put up with the excessive and intrusive DRM, the horribly broken launch that prevents paying customers from playing, and the accounts being hacked en masse less than a week after release, because in the eyes of the average...

    Filetrip overhaul: we're getting generous!

Hmm... Abandonware might not be the best idea, since a lot of it is still technically under copyright in a lot of countries. Also, I see SimCity 2000 on here. Is this the Win95 version that has issues with the installer and the save/load dialogue on Win7x64 (and possibly other systems)? I found...

    DS #5811: Titanic Mystery (USA)

This is even worse than a movie tie-in. This is a generic turd shovelware trying to trick you into thinking it's a movie tie-in.
