Gaming Steam Summer Sale Starts 19th June

Personally I tend to watch these more for the mis-priced discounts as good weeklong/weekend deals tend to be more common than two years ago, however still looking forward a few games I missed last year.

What are the browsers that GBAtemp visitors use most?

Haven't posted here in a loooooooooong time but saw this news and thought I'd chip in with some other GBAtemp browser stats I've collected from the GBAtemp speedwave [click] I started. Quite a way off your stats Costello, but it's interesting to consider what the results show. 1) My...

Tempmas Week 4: The party ain't over!

My goal for the new year is definitely to stop spending so much money! Having just got a job a few months back I've found myself spending far too much on the occasional Steam game here, odd chocolate bar there and "oh that's a pretty sweet kickstarter". Adds up to much more than I thought. ;)

Hardware Good time to buy a PC?

So I think I've got everything sorted. Also Aria have reduced the i5-3570 by ~£25 meaning it's even cheaper if I buy it all today (2 left in stock :/ ). Does this all look good? PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant / Benchmarks CPU: Intel Core i5-3570 3.4GHz Quad-Core...

Hardware Good time to buy a PC?

Hmm ok, in which case I'd be paying an extra £78 in order to overclock. :/ I've no experience in overclocking CPUs but I don't think that's really worth it. If I scrap the overclocking and the 'k' processor, will that motherboard (£68) be alright?

Hardware Good time to buy a PC?

Okay thanks. :) I think I'll stick to the current CPU and RAM, it's about another £70 otherwise I think, not worth it for that small boost. Instead I'll go for the 3570k giving me the option to overclock if needs be (and IB oc's better than haswell from what I've read). Having the HSF also fits...

Hardware Good time to buy a PC?

Thank you very much to everyone so far. :) I've done some weighing up and shopped around a bit for best prices and think I'm close. Just a few queries: -How much better performance would I get from haswell 4670 + 2400 RAM? -Really confused as to which mobo to get, there's so many. -Do...

Hardware Good time to buy a PC?

Right, so the i5-3570 and 4670 are basically the same price (£10 difference, maybe more with mobo). Any advantage to picking the haswell over ivybridge? Also from my understanding the 'k' just allows for better oc'ing? I probably won't be overclocking until it begins to become too slow (years...

(Bump) Any advice on choosing a CPU?

Hardware Good time to buy a PC?

Thanks a lot guys, this is really helpful. :) As for a few questions raised: -Will be buying parts separately and assembling myself, not pre-built. -No I will not OC until the warranty has run out on CPU/GPU. -Large power consumption isn't too much of a problem. PC isn't always turned on and...

Hardware Good time to buy a PC?

So I've been out of the loop regarding specs and developments recently, however my old XPS 720 is starting to fail me and I have a load of money to spend this summer. :) Been looking around a bit at logicalincrements.com and such but I'm not entirely sure how much I should spend (I would prefer...

Homebrew Why does DSorganize's Web browser no longer work?

Bunjalloo is a very nice, lightweight option, if a bit basic. If you're only using it for basic text / picture pages it's perfect.

    E3 2013 Press Conferences

Ubisoft will have the best presentation in my opinion. They've got some great games lined up for the future (especially Watch Dogs) and last year's did not disappoint. (Wow was that a whole year ago or some other event when they showed the first clips of Watch Dogs, feels like a few months.)

'Password' you swallow in a pill

For the standard 12 digit I was assuming 96 keyboard characters (96^12). So for the keypad suggestion that is 9^40 (if you discount 0).

'Password' you swallow in a pill

Yeah, even if the hacker somehow knows I only used the numbers 1-9, due to the sheer length of the password it's pretty much impossible to brute-force. For example, a standard, secure password of 12 letters long (that few people I know actually use anyway) would take 647630 years at 30 billion...

'Password' you swallow in a pill

The other day I saw A really neat way of remembering stupidly long passwords: Pick a short word / number etc Look at your keypad as if it's a slate / board 'Write' out your word on the keypad in a way you will only know. For example, for the password 'GBA' it could be something like...
