Hacking Wii screen constantly flickering - homebrew at fault?

So my Wii is running Homebrew, and for some time I've had a problem where the screen flickers constantly, blacks out for a moment, comes back, blacks out, etc. Even when it works the initial black loading screen tends to have a few artifacts. I thought I had it worked out as interference from...

Is there still a list of which external hard drive are compatible with the Wii? There used to be a Wiki one on here, I think, but I can't find the bloody thing anywhere. I bought a cheap one, but when I plug it in the Wii loses display, which is slightly irritating It's only the enclosure...

Hacking NOOB PARADISE - ask away

Tried using USB Loader GX to back up a game onto a thumb drive (as a test – it corrupted my partition table last time I used it on an external HDD), and both times I tried it, it got up to 100% but didn't move from there – the 'time remaining' just kept rising, and the console didn't respond as...

Hacking Update to 4.2 seems incomplete...

Thanks - though I didn't think gecko actually updates the IOS, rather does something so you don't need it? Is there any downside to doing this over installing the new ios?

Hacking Update to 4.2 seems incomplete...

Ok, I updated to 4.2 via one of the guides, forget which one. My system menu says it's on 4.2E, however I tried to play 'mario and sonic at the winter olympics' and it says I need an update. Additionally, my wii shop channel also says I need an update – any idea what I'm missing?

Hacking NOOB PARADISE - ask away

This is a well known issue; updating to 4.2 WILL brick a region converted Korean Wii. Don't know if it's fixable.

Hacking NOOB PARADISE - ask away

Ok, I've installed HBC and done a few other things like installed Cios38rev14 and preloader... What I'm missing, and can't find any info on anywhere - exactly what needs to be done to enable the wii to run homebrew apps, instead of getting the 'this is not a valid wii application' error...

Just got my wii back after bricking it after reinstalling preloader. Still can't run apps off SD - so forgive me, but precisely which step in this guide is the one that allows that to occur? Since running the guide I have updated to 4.2 via the safe updater found on this forum

Hacking Crap! Couldn't run programs, now my wii is corrupt. Help nee

I also thought about trying to reinstall the ISO files I patched, but I'm a bit concerned that it may simply stuff up my preloader install without fixing anything, in which case I'll truly be up the creek without a paddle...
