Is Windows 8 the nightmare I've heard it might be?

Your problem's solved by either what marcus134 said (editing file extensions, you may want it to be easier by un-hiding file extensions via folder settings) or if it's editing file associations, you can do it via the properties of the file itself or Control Panel -> Default Programs -> Associate...

    The Humble THQ Bundle

$5.50 here too, could've waited shamelessly to be cheaper, but nah. Each game is worth more than my paltry contribution.

    Gaming Is There Any Deal

I got pressured into playing pirated Skyrim by my brother, and surprisingly clocked a lot of hours in it, so $20 wasn't so bad when I was prepared to pay $40 for a boxed copy in my local brick & mortar shop. I do wish my local shops had sales. On the ITAD site, it couldn't update through the...

    Gaming Is There Any Deal

I used both this past Autumn/Black Friday/Cyber Monday/Thanksgiving/Winter(GMG) along with Reddit, and man, I got the best deals across the sites. Skyrim for $20.50, damn. Spent $50 easy, but for so many games, I couldn't resist.

    i hate using Google

Haha, well, I'm an '89 and only played them late in the 90's so I learned to categorize the vertical/horizontal shooters as shmups from the get-go. Love them to this day!

iGoogle to retire November 12, 2013

Can't say I'll miss it, but that's me. I used it for a while, but got tired of it, and set my homepage to the plain ol' google.com. Simple, and it's the first thing I open anyway, even if I don't search.

Earth 2160 Free on GMG Today

GMG is okay, and I'll take a look at this, thanks for the heads up. I think the trade-in works if they actually provide the game you bought via their Capsule Client(?). If Steam or otherwise, they would indicate that it's not eligible for trade-in.

Coffee Beans In Danger of Extinction

I've seen the article before. I love coffee for the sake of coffee, not because of habit or a quick caffeine fix, so I'll be sad if or when coffee becomes a rare commodity. I even have a bean-to-cup coffee machine, for lack of a better name, just to get the best out of every cup.

Direct X 11.1 is Windows 8 exclusive, no plans to retrofit

Perhaps, but then it's always fun to see "heated discussions." Brings out the passions, y'know. Hot passions.

Direct X 11.1 is Windows 8 exclusive, no plans to retrofit

Well this quickly turned into another argument, but that was inevitable. That being said, I like change, and I'd get Win8 before next year (especially since I'm getting it for $15). I thought about the whole start menu thing and I realized I only ever use the start menu for clicking shut down...

Direct X 11.1 is Windows 8 exclusive, no plans to retrofit

I'll definitely live. I recently just started PC gaming again and the lot of games I've been playing only ever show using DX9. And, I don't notice the small GR8 GFX OMG stuff anyway.

Those games you just keep beating

I managed to keep losing and finding this when I was young: Always had to play the campaign again, never got old. Each time I find it there's a lot more scratches on the disk, yet it still installs. My most loyal CD. Haha. I also play these 3 games with my brother whenever we get...

    Gaming Is There Any Deal

I never realized that the SteamGifts tracker I've been using has been that site all along. Although with a narrower scope, I also use cheapshark.com to quickly check out deals.

    Apple Anyone use f.lux?

I haven't noticed any large battery impact and I've had it for as long as I can remember. Really neat.

Apple Should I get an iPhone 5?

Personally, I have iOS devices but never an iPhone. I dunno, I just don't like Apple devices as a phone. As everything else they're great, multimedia, games, but seems like you already have a capable device (iPad 2) for that. As for iOS vs Android, the App Store is what iOS has going for it...

Very slow start times for all programs

Don't leave out the part where you test paid premium anti-virus programs too. Personally I don't use any of those 3 as I find them absolutely lacking overall. Also, you get what you pay for, and in those cases, if you didn't pay, then you get nothing. This doesn't apply to all though the paid...

Very slow start times for all programs

TL;DR: Anti-virus programs aren't useless, don't give destructive advice, there are always stupid people in the world that will give you headaches. On-topic: I have a lesser-spec'd Lenovo Z470 which has no problems, so it must be one or more of the programs you have installed. Also, when I...

Apple Would Any Tempers Be Willing To Help Port TWEWY to Ipod Touch?

I've read that before too, but unless you're aiming to keep your iPod working for at least ~4 years (where it would be sorely outdated, gaming-wise, and if Apple continues their trend), then just do the VRAM tweak. Also, if in about 2 years you'll have enough money or at least a means to get a...

Reggie says NA hates White Handhelds

My white DSL's main body hasn't gone yellow, although the L and R triggers have. But damn. I like white gadgets. My DSL, PSP Go, fliphone, and iPad are all white. I actually like seeing when they're dirty so I can clean them regularly and save me the trouble of unresponsiveness later on due to...
