Thats not how 3d movies work. They contain only two views. Its not full 3d that you can view from any angle. Thats why you need realtime 3d for ar. And I dont see anyone making a full featured realtime 3d movie yet. Not that it wouldnt be awesome.
Its mindblowing that good design decisions can be so simple some time.
Maybe its just nintendo getting rid of some spare parts they had lying around from the n64.
These make sense. Id like to add this one:
3d should always go into the screen (like looking through a window), and only loose objects that dont touch the edges of the screen may extent towards the viewer.
The only one that stands out is the ridge racer screen. It looks really horrible compared to the psp(!). And mario kart looks worse then the wii version, but that makes sense. All others look pretty good. But ridge racer, come on.
