Hacking BOOTMII UNBRICKED A WII B4 BOOTMII!!

I still don't get why this approach could be used to unbrick any Wii regardless what has been in NAND before(e.g. bricket Sysmenu or whatever). From my point of view, you only had success because the Boot1 SHA1 from both your bricked and your unbricked Wii were the same and vulnerable to use...

Hacking Get rid of banner brick on 3.4 without TP Hack

If you didn't have CIOSCORP installed, you need a modchip to autoboot DVDRs via Recovery Mode. Other way, there's no chance to run ANY code. If you had CIOSCORP installed, you should be able to run trucha-signed discs directly, e.g. with Wad Manager(see second URL in my previous post).

Hacking Get rid of banner brick on 3.4 without TP Hack

Hm, according to the symtoms you described in your previous post, this sounds like a full brick. A banner brick won't lead to a corrupted system files message. If your system files really are corrupt, this would explain why you can't autoboot any disc from recovery mode. Are you sure, no...

Hacking Get rid of banner brick on 3.4 without TP Hack

Sorry, I fiddeled up the offsets. Nevertheless, the checksums are all ok. Currently I don't have a clue why your patched iso from third step didn't work. It's correct assuming you have a Wii originally being japanese. What modchip do you use? Btw., I dumped my PAL pink fish again, to review the...

Hacking Get rid of banner brick on 3.4 without TP Hack

RegionFrii edits the same byte as you did manually, so it was pretty much useless. Try patching to 010P01 (P=PAL). Reason: The symptom sounds like you've got a PAL TV, not being able to display an NTSC signal. Original pink fish is NTSC, and also your JAP patched version. Are you sure you...

Hacking Get rid of banner brick on 3.4 without TP Hack

Does the version in lower right corner disappear, or keeps the disc just spinning all time? Maybe wrong region. Which one did you use? Try to patch the disc to an opposite region(of not already J) using RegionFrii or a Hex Editor(Offset 0x003 as Unicode, see here...

Hacking Get rid of banner brick on 3.4 without TP Hack

You sure have Twilighthack still installed? In that case, all you'd need is a modchip and Zelda with autoboot enabled, because 3.3e does not allow to boot trucha signed disks directly. That way you can use twilight hack to start Wad Manager or AnyTitleDeleter from SD, in order to remove that...

Hacking Get rid of banner brick on 3.4 without TP Hack

Sounds good, IOS16 indeed has the trucha bug. Hopefully it will work. Hear from me soon. Nope, didn't autoboot at all. Scrubbed or unscrubbed?

Hacking Get rid of banner brick on 3.4 without TP Hack

No luck with the .rbks yet. They seem to be partly encrypted/compressed and partly plain text(e.g. for folder names), but I wasn't able to figure out how to unencrypt and decompress them. And I agree with you, seems that no user installed channels(VC as well as homebrew)

Hacking Get rid of banner brick on 3.4 without TP Hack

Can confirm for pink fish patched to pal and ios 35 is working on cioscorp(ntsc just not tried, can do if needed). Furthermore, nothing besides saves and channels(and interestingly system time) got overwritten when I restored a full 3.4E backup, either from the same wii or from the other. All...

Hacking Get rid of banner brick on 3.4 without TP Hack

Cool. Btw., I read into a little bit regarding cioscorp, wasn't much familiar with it. It seems cioscorp hasn't been removable so far. That's a pretty risk to try on the borrowed Wii. Wouldn't make sense on mine because of the chip. Maybe it can be removed using the backup disc to restore a...

Hacking Get rid of banner brick on 3.4 without TP Hack

@OSW: haven't tried booting pink fish with softmod yet. I can try with the Wii I used for backup, still have it here. It has no hardware mod, thus it won't give any conflict with softmod. I can confirm pink fish is set to autoboot, first byte=0x30. Here from me friday with some results on...

Hacking Get rid of banner brick on 3.4 without TP Hack

Which one, pink fish? Yes it does, but according to current knowledge it installs it anyway because it's included with the disc. That's why it's so important not to block any updates.

Hacking Get rid of banner brick on 3.4 without TP Hack

Sometimes something similar happens with my modchip. Didn't find out yet why it happens, and I can cope with it for now, because I can get it working this way in such case: pink fish disc has to be in drive pull out the power cord plug it back in power up the Wii using eject instead of power...

Hacking Get rid of banner brick on 3.4 without TP Hack

Why not install a working IOS9 on your other Wii and backup it? Then restore this into bricked Wii, the faulty IOS should be replaced. Or why don't you use BootMe to change IOS to a working one, e.g. 249? Analysis of the .brk will take quite a while I think.

Hacking Get rid of banner brick on 3.4 without TP Hack

Does the update check matter? Homebrew users should be on 3.2 or 3.4 anyway. 3.3 generally seemed to be a bad idea for homebrew, because neither trucha-signed discs nor the pink fish will boot. Unfortunately, a chip is mandantory to read any DVDRs and autoboot. I tried hard, but I didn't find a...

Hacking Get rid of banner brick on 3.4 without TP Hack

Dunno, I'll have to analyze contents of the backup. I think depends on how that stuff is signed, compression or signatures shouldn't be an issue. Anyway I doubt this backup contains anything from boot2(which would help a lot for anti-update measures), most probably only NAND stuff. Will take me...

Hacking Get rid of banner brick on 3.4 without TP Hack

Did you try to delete all right after the 3.4E update? You should try to to restore a full backup from a working 3.4E first, before delete all. As you wrote you had one ready, just use the backup disc on it. Backup will be stored to front SD. I did that(as I wrote in my initial post), and...
