Hacking Question GoldLeaf 0.5 (latest) crash on 7.0.1 with USB install, possible macOS issue?

The final GoldLeaf 0.5 changed something with usb communication. I'll check it out eventually. I've just been using SatelliteSeeker's TinFoil build and it hasn't failed me yet.

Homebrew RELEASE NS-USBloader - another one Tinfoil and GoldLeaf USB installer

It seems like TinFoil only likes plain ascii. I found that a name with é in the title Tinfoil would get very confused about how to handle it.

Homebrew RELEASE NS-USBloader - another one Tinfoil and GoldLeaf USB installer

I tried probably 5 or 6 different builds from Lavatech and none of them worked at all. Fwiw SatelliteSeeker's build works perfectly for me. The only difference is the readbuffer size (1mb instead of 8mb) which makes me wonder if certain usb chipsets act stupid with that large of a transfer chunk.

Hacking Error after installing NSP using Atmosphere on 7.0.1

7.0.1 is a bit of a minefield still. Unless you need 7.0.1 it might be wise to drop back to 6.2.0. I did and it has been smooth sailing since.

    Homebrew Question Best USB installer?

I don't think I ever did make a thread here. To answer OP, SatelliteSeeker's TinFoil fix is the only thing that hasn't failed me once. Except that one time I had a bad nsp, but that isn't SatelliteSeeker's fault.

When are you going to rename this to Atmosphere?

Homebrew RELEASE Goldleaf - A Nintendo Switch multipurpose homebrew tool

I was using Reinx and switched to Atmosphere by way of Kosmos and I haven't had any trouble since. My switch is on 6.0.0 (because I can't be arsed to update). I had maybe a dozen installations in a row fail until I switched to Atmosphere and now I installed 3 NSPs in a row perfectly.

Homebrew RELEASE Goldleaf - A Nintendo Switch multipurpose homebrew tool

I consistently get error 0x234a02 no matter what I try to install. I feel like it got less stable with 0.4, but that might be confirmation bias. Edit: I posted this below, but switching to Atmosphere made everything work perfectly. Literally zero problems now.

Hacking Help with Tinfoil's USB transfer

Fwiw, I have no intentions of addressing this. Use the older build of TinFoil (which is what I do, it works fine). When/If GoldLeaf gets an official release I'll update Aluminum.

Hacking How often do you backup you nand?

Once when it was first unboxed. Compressed and copied to google drive and I don't think about it any more.

Hacking [PSA]Verify ALL .nsp and .xci files regardless of where they come from, even homebrew

Bro its like finding a sandwhich on the bathroom floor, eating it, then thinking you did nothing wrong when you die of dehydration via cholera. I'm not trying to victim-blame here, but at a certain point you have to be responsible for the risks you take, and if one of those risks is downloading...

Hacking Question State of the scene?

Understatement of the day. Between the Tinfoil name confusion and pissing match and the Pikachu brick code there is a lot of bullshit tearing down the scene. I've been modifying consoles since my original xbox and I've never seen so many bratty kids cause so much chaos as the Switch scene.

Hacking [PSA]Verify ALL .nsp and .xci files regardless of where they come from, even homebrew

Yeah, but if you are downloading homebrew compiled by someone other than the creator you are kind of asking for it.

    Homebrew COMPLETED How pikabricker works

But how? The manifest inside the NSP contains SHA hashes for the NROs, but that is useless since someone can simply change the manifest to match the modified NRO. Unless we have a known database of good SHAs there is nothing to compare it to. Good NROs are signed by Nintendo, but afaik the only...

@XorTroll you can have aluminumfoil. I didn't trademark it or anything.

Why did you quote me? All I want is the source code, I don't care about trademarks or any of that pissing match.
