    Hacking WII64

retrospect: Wii64 seems like a very strange way to go about N64 emulation on the Wii. Surely the following concepts have more potential:Hex edit a downloaded N64 game channel so that rather than loading a built-in ROM, it loads a .v64 from SD.Create homebrew N64 'game' and inject this into an...

    Hacking should I be worried?

Well it's not your fault, DVD technology is very confusing at the best of times. And the quality of the media is much worse than CD-R - meaning 20 years from now your CD-R media (even the crappy stuff) will most likely out-live all your DVD+/-R media. This was one of the reasons I never wanted...

    Hacking should I be worried?

Are you using 16x media? If you are, then maybe 12x would be better - although for current good media (Verbatim or Taiyo Yuden) 16x should be the optimal speed, as far as I'm aware of.

    Hacking should I be worried?

http://gbatemp.net/index.php?showtopic=103...15&start=15 and this is because of exactly how similar the dvd burning process is to the cd burning process Actually, the burning process is quite different. PS: also, you dont make a good case when you refer to "overburning" as if it has anything...

Hacking are homebrew wii apps out of control?!

You do raise a very valid point - however I think that Nintendo is also hugely to blame. Now until recently it was true that under a modchip, your imports had better compatibility if they were patched and then burnt. Call me a cheapskate, but I don't like paying $100 for a new game when I can...

    SSBB-->SL = Shrunk ;-)

    Hacking should I be worried?

That's not true, and I've explained why in another post, and there are many, many different benchmark tests to have been performed on the Verbatim 2.4x DL media, burnt at 4x and 2.4x - and I'm yet to see one which showed the faster burn resulted in ANY decrease in quality (4x vs 2.4x). 6x, maybe...

Hacking SSBB won't get past the "create save" screen.

It's not about rushing the burn, it's about quality. Slow burns heat the disc up too much, and because the disc takes loner to cool the data isn't burnt as well as a good high speed burn. 4x is still an entirely linear burn, so it can't possibly be a worse quality burn. At any rate, the disc is...

Hacking are homebrew wii apps out of control?!

Well the X-BOX can read DVD+/-R/RW and CD/CD-R/RW as is standard for every DVD player. "Nintendo's Disc" is a format non-compatible with DVD; this makes it very easy for them to block standard DVDs. This makes it very hard for Microsoft to block the use of burnt games on the XBOX, as its only a...

Hacking Wii Hard drive iso loader in action

No, it would mean that specific Wii has a 2.0 usb drive.

    Hacking Boot games without WiiMote?

    So very true!

    Hacking should I be worried?

The 15% trick is very safe, and easy as long as you know what you're doing (ie using a firmware that is SAFE for your Wii and will only add channels at "worst". A better idea, now, is to use bushing's 3.2 update disc - or to use starfall to disable updates. All of these are trivial though as you...

Hacking Any way to update without internet?

It doesn't read the settings because that would be like a backdoor for Nintendo to use - ie just "read the settings" off the chip, and they know you have a modchip...

Hacking Free Clip programmed with YAOSM

Hello, I'm an utter newbie and just got a launch date Wii. I hear these are great for modding, and want to do so as soon as possible. They are great for modding. I've been reading a bit on this and other forums, and am starting to get the gist of the process. My (drive?) is estimated to be...

Hacking are homebrew wii apps out of control?!

The NES had the D-Pad feature. The SNES had the hardware expansion feature, and the 6-button controller. The Nintendo 64 had the analogue thumb-stick feature, as well as the rumble and gamepak features, and the built-in 4-player feature. The Gamecube re-innovated the controller adding analogue...

Hacking 60hz in VC Games (PAL Wii)

I was under the impression Freethewads doesn't work for SNES titles? At least it didn't when I tried (worked fine for N64 though)...

Hacking VC vs emulation on Wii: opinions?

Yes, but it's not necessarily illegal to create those ROMs. I have a SNES copier which - if it was working correctly - could duplicate any game I owned, without any legal ramifications (at least none that I know of that have been legally established in the High Court of Australia). You could...

Hacking SSBB won't get past the "create save" screen.

Perhaps I should clarify: before using this process, the game would not go past the create save screen; thought it may be a similar problem - it can't hurt to try. If you're going to burn - use the fastest speed you can - 4x or faster. I've been using 2.4x Verbatim DVD+R DL and burning at 4x -...

Hacking VC vs emulation on Wii: opinions?

Yes that's one of the worst things about the VC (the worst being 50Hz for PAL, the second worst being the so-called "digital instruction manual"). It is useful for Nintendo in that each game has an individually programmed emulator - but that would work with simply updating the emulator in the...
