Hacking New to scene.. Help me understand my new, used unpatched switch (Can i install my SX pro safely?)

Hello everybody. Long time no post :D I'm entering the world of switch hacking and purchased a second-hand unpatched switch with 5.0.0 firmware and I also have a new SX pro dongle which I've had laying around since they first came out. The SD card has some CFW related files on it which i'm...

ESET Smart Security + running RKill, ADWCleaner and JunkwareRemovalTool once per month is all you need if you run windows. I haven't had my computer compromised or any malware for over 10 years and i use my PC for nefarious purposes (installing pirated software, visiting sites with expired...

ROM Hack (Request) Dragon quest monsters joker 3 save editor?

I second this motion, save editor please, or some offsets to modify wild encounters. I'll even settle for a 'all monsters obtained' code :)

    Gaming Gateway Cheats

I second this, I'd love to see a cheat to modify monster encounters, or to get all monsters obtained :)

Do any of you have experiences with nootropics ?

I've never tried piracetam before, but a buddy of mine has in the past and had nothing but good things to say. I've dabbled in Modafinil in the past, i highly recommend that stuff. It's literally the NZT-48 drug from the movie Limitless.

ROM Hack [Translation] Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker 3

Has anyone been able to figure out how the monster edit mode in the NTR cheat plugin works? 22. Monster Edit Mode (B+U/D Monster No.+/-1) (B+RIGHT/LEFT Monster No.+/-10) (B+R/L Ability/Skill No.+1) (X+U/D Ability ID +/-1) (X+RIGHT/LEFT Ability ID +/-10) (Y+U/D Skill ID +/- 1) (Y+RIGHT/LEFT...

Hacking Is it "jailbreak", "root", or "hacking" the switch?

iOS cracking got it's own special name because it's based upon the freeBSD operating system so "breaking out of the freeBSD jail" ultimately became "jailbreaking." If one wanted to get technical, i guess this term could be used for the PS3, PS4 and PS Vita too.... But i think it should be unique...

Hacking Question Why the Nintendo consoles are always the first/only consoles hacked?

I do feel sorry for nintendo sometimes, their products always seem to be the most violated for piracy at the conclusion of a console generation. Maybe it's time to drop webkit guys......

Homebrew I got a Nintendo 64 emulator running (extremely poorly) on the New 3DS!

My god, it actually happened. N64 emu on 3DS request threads used to be a meme in the 3DS scene heyday :rofl2:

ROM Hack [Translation] Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker 3

This is slightly off topic, but does anyone know of a gateshark code, NTR plugin or save editor that allows you to 'obtain' all 500-something monsters, as opposed to just completing the 'library'? Thanks :)

Hacking Why is every major dev of the Switch scene pissed about Xecuter's work?

I'm looking into my crystal ball and i'm seeing: Team Xecuter admired by switch early adopters who have been waiting for a hacking solution since day 1. Universal praise all around for their hard work in implementing public announced exploits and progressing the scene. Team Xecuter continuing to...

Hacking Need a clear and concise explanation on how to run backups on retail 1.76 PS4

Out of any console hacking scene I've been apart of (and i'm an older guy, so I've been through ALOT) i've never witnessed this amount of ambiguity, confusion and refusal to provide help or tutorials to owners of (in our case) extremely rare firmwares to help progress the scene! auto Yes, ive...

Hacking Need a clear and concise explanation on how to run backups on retail 1.76 PS4

Hi everyone. As the title says, i'm trying to figure out exactly how one is supposed to run backups on a retail 1.76 ps4 console. The only information that exists in regards to this topic is primarily convoluted technical speak by developers to which english is a second language, inaccurate and...

Homebrew UPDATE: Regarding the recent 3DS banwave

Do we know the triggers yet? I've got three hacked 3DS's which i rarely ever use and they aren't banned. I also never game online or use freeshop due to using flashcarts. Wi-Fi is permanently off until i need it.

still only 600-700 nits i have to use the contrast enhancer to make bright lights look as bright as they are supposed to but the alternative was the next tier up and buying a demo model that would've been about the same cost, that had 1000 nits but issues with black crush

very dark scenes are more common than very bright scenes so i think i made the right choice

there was also a sony with worse local dimming and the glow was really apparent

  • SG854 @ SG854:
Human vision is non linear anyway. 100 nits is about 50% of the peak output of a 10,000 nit display.

really have to buy the top end model to get a tv that doesnt have any of those compromises and that would've had more dimming zones too but i am not made o money

@Julie_Pilgrim "very bright" is essentially pure white

  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
pure white doesn't show up all that much it's mainly when looking at a bright sky

and if the clouds in the sky have slightly less definition to them because i turned on the contrast enhancer who cares

but i can certainly tell the difference with black crush if i'm watching a scifi movie and i can't see wtf is going on

  • SG854 @ SG854:
Human vision is logarithmic, it's not linear. And nits doesn't tell the whole story of perceived brightness. OLED'S look brighter then LCD's even when both are set to the same nit values because of the higher contrast ratio on OLED's
    Gift
  • SG854 @ SG854:
    OLED's have a 3D look

  • kenenthk @ kenenthk:
Charging port is more likely to fry up or battery fail before the display tbh lol

  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
"And nits doesn't tell the whole story of perceived brightness" it's not about perceived brightness it's about all HDR content in TV and movies being mastered for 1000 nits so it doesn't look right with anything lower, it's also about dynamic range

  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
    "OLED's have a 3D look" no they don't lol
    Gift
  • SG854 @ SG854:
As an owner of a OLED and you saying that you never seen an OLED I think I know what I'm talking about lol. I'm not talking about 3D as in 3D glasses. I'm talking about depth and pop in the picture

  • kenenthk @ kenenthk:
I mean to be fair og vitas are still kicking and not many have suffered from pixel bleed and they're going on nearly 10 years
    Gift
  • SG854 @ SG854:
OLED's can get away with a lower peak brightness and still provide punchy HDR because of their contrast ratio. Like I said human vision is logarithmic. The higher the peak brightness the diminishing returns in perceived brightness.
