you're using the wrong upgrade. sd_163 is for SD/miniSD
you need the lite one.

He fixed it by taking his superkey apart and packing some paper inside....
The only way you can brick is if the supercard or mini-sd has damaged or bent pins. Then you can short out your DS and blow a fuse.
