Naming NeoGamma as an example, why you don't download it's source and look for the info you need.
It's only an Installer fix. So when the installer would hang on some consoles it now shouldn't anymore. cIOS is still the same as rev20.

I'm using rev17, too. But with the new option to select the slot I will try it as IOS5 (or some other low number... 19 maybe) just to have it as...

That feature isn't fully developed. You can only load the ISO in the Disc Channel, but won't be able to play it.
I don't see where it was written, that he removed boot2 — he removed BootMii/boot2, but not boot2 itself.
