Official GBAtemp Review

Product Information:

The team at Aim Controllers have been making customized and remappable controllers for PS4 and Xbox for years now. I finally got the chance to get my hands on one and had to let you all know what I think.

It's not every day that one gets the opportunity to play with a decent third party controller. That's why I was intrigued to learn of a company that makes completely custom PS4 and Xbox controllers with completely remappable buttons. Well, I jumped at the opportunity to get my hands on one and had to let you all know my first impressions.

(SPOILER) I was impressed.

  • Fully customizable controller for both PS4 and Xbox One
  • Very high quality controller with all buttons responsive and mappable
  • The option for hair bumpers/triggers and additional paddles in the back make for more efficient gaming
What We Didn't Like ...
  • It took quite a while to ship
  • The total cost with all the bells and whistles was just shy of $250.

Overall

I got everything that I needed out of this custom controller and more. I was surprised right off the bat with the quality of the controller and fully intend on making it my main controller. It is much pricier than a standard PS4 controller, but it comes with so many customization options that it may just be worth your while to splurge.
I think a big point to realize for people is that the money your spending it's being customized for you. I've seen a few where they customize where the buttons can be for your hand, shaping controllers to your hands, as well as custom controller for people that may only be able to play with their feet or one handed. The funcionality is really enjoyable, but if your not willing to spend 250$ on your controller their are plenty of modded controller alternatives.

I have a modded ps4 controller too. I liked the xbox elite controller, but it's l2/r2 were prone to failure and break well for the ps4 controller it's sticks rubber eventually breaks apart. I had the button pads replaced and analog sticks with the xbox's. Only costed me 30$ altogether. There are other things too, Scuff, Ps4 Elite etc. Cheaper modded alternatives which can cost you maybe 50$or a little more.
It's really important if you want to buy though to know what you want. And know what kind of money your willing to drop. It looks pretty awesome! All pimped out^^

I wouldn't give it 9.5. I don't care how good it is. The price is a massive con. It cost the same as brand new console. You probably got it for free to give high score for it. If you buy it with your own money you will give it a max score of 5. How you give 9.5 (almost perfect score) to something that so overpriced? The value for the money I guess not important factor.
The review is good but the final score doesn't make sense for me.

I would also like to have known a bit about how it feels during games, since at the end of the day that's what you buy it for, though, obviously the customization is a big part of it too.

"Ow! My ears!... Why can't I hear him?"

Nice review. For prices like that, no thanks! I'm a fan of making my own modifications! (That usually end with a broken controller)

No troling, im looking for a good controller right now that ima use on pc. And i dont get why i should pay 250bucks for this, istead of buying an actual remappable scuff controller for 139bucks?
Plz enlighten me, if ive been blind, but there are enough customizations ( change grip, change layout etc) to justify 200+ bucks for a controller.
Like i said, getting a scuff controller or for xbox just the elite is more than enough i think.

I feel like I should have clarified this a little better in the review, so I'll do it now. The $250 was because I decked it out completely. If you only add the remappable spider buttons to the back and get both the smart triggers and the smart bumpers (without any aesthetic changes) the total comes out to $153. And it looks like there's a $30 off coupon on their website right now which could bring it down to $123. But you're right, if you want to remap all the buttons and not just the four on the back, you'll have to look at scuff instead. Hope you find what you're looking for!

It doesn't take long to get used to, and once you do it's just as natural and comfortable as using a regular PS4 controller. The buttons on the back are super useful in a wide variety of games. Right now I'm playing Ni No Kuni which is a JRPG that requires me to move with the right joystick while simultaneously pressing the left and right arrows to control the menu. I just remapped the left and right arrows to the two spider buttons and it controls so much easier because I don't have to take my fingers off. I've also tested it with CoD (which I admit I'm not the best at) and I can fire really quickly with the smart triggers. And I haven't had the chance to try it with a fighting game yet, but I can imagine it being super useful when I jump back into Dragonball Fighterz, allowing me to swap characters easily.
I think on their website basic controller without customization costs about 61 euros
Yep. And 72 dollars.

I'd repeat what I said to 71r3n. $250 is having it all decked out. It's as low as $72 with no customization and as high as $153 with all functional changes but not cosmetic ones. I did get it for free (as I said in the video) however it was NOT in exchange for a high score. I could have given it a 1/10 and there's absolutely nothing they could have done about it. But honestly, I'm not the biggest fan of numbered scores anyway, so I might not be the best at picking them. Thanks for liking the review and the feedback though!
Nice, a video for a change. Also those cables are called Nylon Braided cables I believe.
Thanks! Yeah, I knew that's what they were called but it's hard to remember how to say words when you're trying to record everything in one take, haha.

Fun side story: when I was growing up my Mom affectionately referred to me as "err-bear" which is pronounced "air bear" so when I saw that this guy named Air bear was also reviewing this controller, I found it hilarious.

for $250, i rather get the Astro C40 for $200
however if it the controller with the back paddles for $122, it's decent price
i really don't know why they are selling the normal version without any add on for $74.

Yep, $122 with the remappable back paddles. And as long as the coupon for $30 off when you spend $139 or more is still going, you could even spring for some more features and end up paying around $110. Unless I'm misinterpreting it.
