I have the first (I think) model (US) that came out, it's "ambassador". It's used, so naturally it has those vertical line scratches on the top screen, and the thumbpad rubber comes off. If I were to sell it, how much could I realistically get?

I mean the only thing that is maybe is a good thing if you have the original original model that you bought when the prices were huge, these have GBA Virtual Console games, but you can always inject your own roms yourself without having the first model. At least you can maybe sell it and say something like RARE GBA GAMES and not count as a piece of bup. what does count as a piece of bup is selling a hacked 3ds as rare.

Maybe 50 bucks if it was in better condition. As it stands 40 bucks seems more reasonable. Whoever buys it is probably gonna have to end up replacing the circle pad, and maybe the top screen too, so obviously it's going to be worth less.
I have an o3DS in near perfect condition, has had screen protectors on it since pretty much day 1 so the upper screen is in good condition as is the circle pad, even then I don't think I'd get more than 60 bucks for it considering 2DS consoles went for $80 brand new at one point, and besides the clamshell form factor and the 3D they are the same hardware.
