No, that is correct as well :) The patch included in the CFW Kit is already pre-patched, but doing it yourself is not a problem! Although, it seems you may not have extracted everything completely. If you have any problems with you setup, be sure to retry Section 1 again to be sure all your files are in place.
Oh I think I didnt extract the extractthisherself. I don't understand completely. There are two rxtools folders. One in the cfw kit and one in the extractthisherself zip. Are they different?
I moved the files from the backup before creating emunand back to the SD. Then I tried to do the first steps again, updating the CFW kit. Now when I put in the SD card, none of my games show in the menu. Menuhax doesn't boot automatically. Is there a way to fix this?
I didnt unlink the nands. I just created an emunand. I think I merged a Nintendo 3ds folder created on the empty sd card when I had taken a backup, with the other Nintendo 3ds folder in the backup. Would that make the saves unreadable?
Delete the Nintendo 3DS folder and place your backup on it. Everything should still be there. If you didn't unlink, I have no idea why your games aren't on Sysnand still.
I managed to fix it. Now I'm going to unlink my nands. I still want to keep the things I have bought on the eshop on my sysnand. Is that possible? It says I have to restore the nand.bin. Will my nands be still unlinked?
It's not possible. So you can choose to either not unlink your nands, or you can simply run TinyFormat in EmuNAND instead of SysNAND. But then you will have to install a cia installer in EmuNAND and you will have to swap between SysNAND and EmuNAND to play all the games.
Ah ok thanks. To make sure I've done things right I have a data, firm, lang, nand, sys and a theme folder in the rxtools folder on the root of the sd card. When I used the cdm firm.py file I got no firmware.bin file but 3 files with many numbers. Was this right?
In SD/rxTools/theme/
create a folder called "1"
Place all the files from Nasty's theme into that folder. It should look the same as the "0" folder.
Then launch the rxTools Menu, go to SETTINGS, and change theme.
Yeah. However, in the advanced options it says error opening /rxtools/theme/2/adv4.b
Maybe nastys didnt create a button for all the options.
However I dont know how to use anything else than rxmode or creating a nand backup so it doesnt matter much
Maybe it's an error reading the Devmode button; it was changed to Pasta Mode recently. It's alright though, you can always change the theme back if you ever need to access it.
I have installed some Cias now. However, the nonlegit cias that were installed on sysnand did not come to emunand. These were pokemon neo x and star sapphire. Also the virtual console cias didn't come to the emunand. They're not on sysnand either. When I open data management I can see then but they are gray colored and they have a cross on them. What does this mean? Can I get them back?
For the pokemon games, were they installed in sysnand before creating emunand? Because you would be able to see them in emunand in that case. If you installed them in sysnand AFTER creating emunand then they won't show up in emunand, only sysnand, since your nands are unlinked.
I installed the pokemon games before unlinking the nands. I think I installed them on sysnand. When they were unlinked I installed some vc cias later on emunand. I didn't have to install it on sysnand too. Maybe Ill just have to uninstall the games that are grayed out with an x and reinstall them. Luckily I didnt have much save data on them so it doesnt matter if Iose it.
