It averages around a 40% improvement, which is way below marketing, and below what some reviews say I believe. The lowest gain I saw was on Far Cry 5, I got only a 29.5% improvement, that's the kind of gain you'd expect from the 2080Ti, not the 2080. https://i.imgur.com/S0AqmNC.png

Not really a Milestone at the Moment .... probably more after 34 Nvidia Driver Updates and 528 Game Patches/Updates ....

Drivers could be it, there are many games at a 50% improvement mind you, so I guess some games just favour the 3080, could be due to drivers.

You're likely hitting CPU bottlenecks at those resolutions, the 3080 is more meant to be a 4k card, not so much 1440p or lower. Far Cry 5, for example, is very dependant on single threaded performance on your CPU, so lower resolutions will only go as far as your CPU can take it.

It's why the 3080 is, in a lot of games, effectively identical to a 2080 ti at 1080p, you're limited by your CPU as to how many frames get rendered. Your 3080 likely isn't being pushed to the max at 1440p

Yup, I got such answers when I asked over on Reddit, my 3600X is sadly bottlenecking. I guess I should upgrade to a Ryzen 7 5000 series.

I only have a 1080p/144hz monitor for gaming, but I use DSR so everything tenders at 4k and then downsample to 1080p so I can really push the 3080 to the limit, so you could always do that if you wanted lol

Wouldn't I get lower performance compared to 1440P anyway?

Good to know, i wouldnt upgrade if it wasnt for step up. Hope im not bottlenecking mine when it arrives. (ryzen 9 3900x)

Sure, but at least you'd be pushing your GPU to the max :P lol.

@Keyofdestiny, it'll probably be about the same for you since single threaded performance across all Zen 2 CPUs are basically identical. You have lots of cores and threads vs the 3600x, but it's not going to help much since most games still don't take advantage of them yet.

A 40% average on your 3600x is pretty damn good.. Price tag considered. Of course, with Zen 3 you'll see even higher... But I don't think those numbers are bad.
